Su-57 far better bet than Rafales & even the cost is lower However Su-75 is the one we need as single engine complement to the AMCA Su-57 in the interim But then again the Safran engine deal is tied to Rafales & hence at least some nos. will have to be bought Complex balance ;)

Work on Kaveri engine must continue with little regard to foreign lobbyists. 2028 deadline is most welcome if the total thrust goes upto 95KN (max scalable thrust for this design). The knowlege gained in the process will open up new possibilities for better applications. Kudos to the govt of the day for throwing its weight behind R&D of the same.

Theoretically it can with full CMC core but that's a bit of a wild goose as of now The dimensions & weight cannot go up much (certainly not in linear proportion) for fitting in Tejas-1 as F-404 substitute

@@coolkal7590 Well, they definitely gonna refine the core to achieve better thermal resistance to enhance the power. They fixed the afterburner already and brought in several improvements and achieved stable performance. French n American help is forthcoming as well. Whateva, they're not gonna abandon it after coming this far. They will definitely fly MK1A with the revived kaveri either sooner or later..

Yeah these are cooking recipes that they will distribute so readily. No one is going to give full TOT of the most relevant technologies. Either you have to buy them and reverse engineer or have a clause to help/guide with our Kaveri . That's the best we are going to get.

@@bubulkalita7941 Tot is mostly nonsense anyway. Foreign brains 🧠 that built the product ultimately cannot be downloaded into Indian brains. All one gets is the equipment to produce some of the items and for that India will pay billions. Those billions subsidize foreign R&D at the expense of Indian R&D. Not worth it for the most part. Only way to know how to do it is to build the R&D base, develop the local supply chain and then DO IT.

Moscow will veto a ToT agreement because of our increased cooperation with US administration. India is also worried that if Moscow provides Su57, the war in Crimea and Russia's growing geopolitical ambitions in the Middle East might make any promised delivery schedule untenable. One possible solution might be to shift our workers to Moscow, construct assembly lines to build planes, resi units to house workers, and do the assembly ourselves. Stay there, don't come home for 5 years, build the aircraft under detailed Russian supervision.

A Gun pod is a bad option for the TEDBF. Even in the age of long-range BVRAAMs and high G-sustaining WVRAAMs, the aircraft canon is an inseparable part of any fighter. It allows the fighter to maneuver with 9 Gs while having a weapon with which it can engage the enemy.

If they can push up the wet thrust to 80kN with the current dry Kaveri then we'll know we have arrived & in-line for the Kaveri-2 ;) The dry Kaveri itself can do with a bit more thrust (but without weight increase) F-404 dry is ~49kN A 10% expansion to around 53 kN will give us the 90kN engine that Tejus really needs Currently too touch & go This the 2nd iteration And finally the F-414 equivalent 3 iterations needed IMO But will the funding come (The 3rd one could be redundant though with the Safran JV engine)

The Kaveri Dry engine does have a thrust capability of 49 kN but the afterburner section was the poor performance section. That is what they are planning to improve upon.

@@coolkal7590 all resources online show the latest version has a maximum thrust of 49 kN. The high altitude tests in Russia failed but a new engine development program costs a few billion dollars while we have spent only ~170 million dollars so far. They are upgrading and developing the engine. There are some issues but they will get sorted out.

External pod for gun sound like a bad idea compared to internal gun . I believe external gun would increase its radar signature. I think the project should have more focus on reducing its signature than increasing it

One hopes that Bharat Forge's industrial automation and control systems were suitably shielded from any possible act of industrial espionage during such a massive visit. Conducting a tour for representatives of one hundred countries is an administrative, logistical and surveillance nightmare. And who knows if any of the European representatives were switched with US citizens under a false name or assumed identity .. low probability worst case scenario but it has happened before in the Cold War era.
