You're a lucky man to have found someone who will tolerate life in a fountain pen rabbit hole. They're a special breed. My wife has been tolerating my fountain pen obsession for forty-three years. I think she believes it's a form of insanity so I need a keeper. She's right, of course.

This was the ink i used all through my school and college. Even though it is still very good and puts other inks to shame considering the cost, it used to be even better earlier.

I really didn't expect this Camlin Royal Blue to be anywhere as nice looking as this... when I was in school, I used a plain blue ink that was maybe made by Shaeffer... I can't remember, but it was a pale blue and faded to nothing in a few weeks... I thought I'd be getting something similar for the price, but this is really a nice blue.

Few things I have noticed, the formulation for red and blue inks have changed a bit since they switched to plastic bottles and I feel the permanent black was rebranded as black. The scarlet red, I remember was a bit more bright.

I use Bril for Blue and Black. For more exotic colors, I use Krishna Inks - I’ve about a dozen Krishna bottles. I‘ve also purchased a Daytone combo-pack with 15 colors, but not all the pens like these inks.

As an INDIAN I need get the camlin royal blue it looks so good I have all very saturated Krishna inks and Yama Budo and LAmy inks and want a bright colour, but then I asked Dad and he said there are definitely some campli ink lying around in his drawer used to use it a lot. Wao this is really popular as it was at my home I didnt even knew about it. Also Try KRISHNA inks and The Great Indian SYAHI they have lovely colour and prices at about 250Rupees around 3 dollars. It has some seriously line up my favourite being the CORAL BABY PINK AND THE OCHRE ILLUSION.

Yes, this Royal Blue is excellent. It doesn't hold up well to light, but hardly any dye-based inks really do. I'm a big fan of Krishna inks.... they're pretty easily available in the USA, though, so they're lower on my list. I've been having trouble finding a source for Syahi inks, but they're on my list, too 🙂

@@thewetpen I myself am learning about inks, Inks unlike pens doesn't really stick their image to any brand, any affordable ink could beat any premium ink, while inks are just too popular but very difficult to work with take an eg of KZW Eldarado it's such a better proposition than Noodlers Southwest Sunset. And with even quicker drying times unlike southwest sunset which could take an actual sunset to set and dry

Ahh, interesting! Yes, now that I have taken a look at some samples of the Pelikan red I can see what you mean (and also see why I never bought a bottle of it). Truth is, if this color had been called something other than "red", I'd probably like it a lot more... it's an interesting color. I think that the Pelikan is a little darker, but similarly orange/pink.

@thewetpen

I don't think that I actually have Wild Strawberry, but it definitely reminds me of a Birmingham ink that I have... might be Salt Water Taffy... though the Camlin ink darker. I just looked up the Diamine, and there's definitely some similarity, but the Camlin never really gets that red... it stays more pink/orange.
@JayEatonArt
@JayEatonArt 2 жыл бұрын
Just going off the video I'd say Wild Strawberry is a fair bit darker and less orange. The color honestly reminds me of Diamine Coral, the way the dark shades are orange and the light shades are pinkish.

@@thewetpen ah. that pretty much an antique piece now, since production has stopped 10-15 yrs ago i think. and please be aware if you decide to open the bottle, it gets dried sooner or later, due to that rusty metal cap. anyways, a vacuum plastic zip pouch may help if stored at a dark corner. maybe.

@@iceberg789 Yes, I have a few vintage bottles of ink, and I keep them in a dark corner, basically. I'll be swatching the Chelpark eventually, for a video, but until I do, I'm keeping it sealed against contamination... even good inks sometimes will sometimes get moldy, etc. It's a good idea to transfer it (or part of it) into a safer container when I do finally open it.

But there is a problem with this ink sir. I used it in two pen click aristocrat (fpr Darjeeling) and jinhao 51 a i use for daily for taking notes in school and writing in home so I needed a cheaper alternative than my regular ink . This ink blocked my pen feeds and it feather bril is much better alternative in same price range.

@thewetpen Жыл бұрын
Interesting! I have not experienced either of those problems with the Camlin inks. I have a few Aristocrats myself; I'll ink one of them up with Camlin and see if I run into any issues. I should say, though, that I've personally had more trouble with Bril feathering; not the Royal Blue, but the green and Turquoise Blue both feather a bit on standard papers (not FP friendly paper, luckily).

@@thewetpen sir, i am talking about royale blue only , sorry , i didn't clarified it . The thing is i use royale blue or standard blue in my school notebooks only and black , so i don't know about other colour i mostly use jinhao 51 a or a kanwrite relik , even though Camlin blue is brighter than bril royale blue , bril blue is smoother and nicer flowing at first the ink would write wet and smoothly than with a bit of writing like in two pages it would become really light and scratchy you can see the problem while just drawing a single line for partition, it would do the whole colour transition in same line . I have tried the same pen with different ink after cleaning like parker quink which is cheap here like you could get a 30 ml bootle for 80 rs and bril and waterman tender purple it works well with them and the pen was cleaned before using Camlin royale blue also.
