Big hi to all of you. Myself a paratrooper and this video every time gives me a recall of those our training days. Those days were literally hell but we still feel proud and more confident now about them. Believe me, during my training days, I had a calendar page with me and after each day pass I crossed the date on it. And in that water tank, fellas literally cry inside it during the drowning practice even today.

just last month A simple war exercise took place near my village. It was very simple but still it was awe-inspiring. I had a friend who was in the Indian Army and he used to tell me every day that the training is such that the body breaks down. FUN FACTS: (1) India has the Largest/Biggest ( In terms of Manpower Numbers ) Standing "All Volunteer", Army in the world, currently standing at 1.6 million men under arms all three Tri Services included i.e. Army, Navy & Air Force, (2) In early 2000 Indian Army reorganized its two Para Air Borne Brigades i.e. the 50th & 51st into 9 Battalions rechristening them Para Special Forces of which, the 9 Para SF being the most deadly and secretive operators also known as "The Ghost Operators". (3) The 36 hour stress test you all watched is essentially the Screening Test of volunteers from regular Infantry Battalions and other Arms Regiments in the army who volunteered to join the Para's. (4) During this 36 hour grueling grind the probationers are monitored and filtered out, attrition/rejection ratio averages 83% on an average. (5) Probationers who qualify this 36 hour pre screening are then assigned to regular Para Battalions where they further undergo 24 months of Specialized SF Training and based on this Unit Level training they are further evaluated and if rejected the probationer is sent back to his respective parent Battalion/Regiment from where he had come (Rejection Rate inside Para Battalions is 87% on an average) and those who successfully pass are finally absorbed into Para SF Battalions (subject to clearing annual fitness & competency tests) where they further undergo specialized training in their assigned/opted subjects and in the end become specialists i.e. explosives & demolition, sabotage, direct assault, snipers etc. (6) Indian Army has modeled its Para SF on the lines of the British S.A.S. (Special Air Service). Similarly the Indian Air Force also has raised its own SF called "Garud" ( A divine bird like creature in Indian Culture ) Combat Search and Rescue, Reconnaissance, Counter Insurgency (COIN) Operations and Emergency in response to terror-threats to airfields (i.e. to guard its static bases and assets), modeled on the lines of The Special Operations Forces Command, or, for short, SOFCOM (in German 'KSK', for 'Kommando Spezialkräfte') of Germany. Similarly The Indian Navy has raised its own SF called "MARCOS" ( Marine Commandos ) to guard its static bases, assets, anti piracy missions at high seas, and conducting CI Ops ( Counter Insurgency ) like is Jammu & Kashmir. Marcos are highly reputed worldwide for being though nuts and are modeled on the lines of US Navy Seals. * Errors & Omissions Kindly Excuse.
