Sister/daughter , Self flagellation is prohibited in Islam, but in this case it started out as an enactment of the tragedy of Karbala which became a tradition to keep the Tragedy alive for the future generations to come. Somewhere along the line different cultures added their own touches to draw attention to this event. Only God knows the true intention of an individual so we cannot be judgemental. Personally speaking, this event draws attention to the family of the Prophet and their message, which otherwise goes un-noticed, so it can only be a good thing because this family epitomises Islam in its true form. I am a shia muslim and if I say something about hinduism without knowing with good intention, but turns out to be wrong then it is not my fault because my intention was to say something positive about hinduism. Your love for Islam is far superior to some of us muslims! O' Muslims, pray to God to bless her! Those who killed Imam Hussain (as) also claimed to be muslims. Read below the sermon of the sister of Imam Hussain (as) in Kufa Sermon of Syeda Zainab (sa) in Kufa "O people of Kufah! O you deceivers! O you who break your pledges and retreated back! You traitors! May your cries never end and your tears never diminish. You are like the woman who painstakingly and with great labor twines a strong rope, and then herself unwinds it, thereby wasting her effort and energy. Your false pledges contain no element of truth and sincerity. Your tactic has become flattering the maids and nodding your heads in agreement to the enemies. Beware, for you have sponsored a very wrongful act for which Allah is totally displeased with you. Without doubt, His wrath shall soon descend upon you. Are you now crying? Yes, by Allah you must weep because you deserve the tears. Cry immensely and laugh less, for you are contaminated with such shame and disgrace, that you will never be able to wash it off. How could you exonerate yourself from crime of slaying the son of the Last Prophet Muhammad (saw)? Was he not the master of the youths in Heaven? Was he not the one who you would go to him whenever you had tribal fights and disagreements? Was he not your best choice to solve your own problems and worries? What bad have you brought upon yourselves, and what heavy burden are you carrying: annihilation, downfall! Efforts were lost, and hands ceased from work causing for business and capital to be lost. You placed yourself in the anger of Allah and you manifested yourselves in greed and begging. O the people of Kufah! Woe be upon you! Do you know which part of RasoolAllah (saw) that you have cut? And which vow you have broken? And whose blood you have shed? And which respected family you have brought to the public as captives? And whose sanctity you have violated? You have done that, which could tear down the skies, open the earth, and make the mountains vanish. As far as the earth goes and as deep as the skies go, your obvious deed has no like, no similarity and no decency. Indeed you have done the ugliest, the most grievous and gruesome deed. Will you be surprised if the sky rains blood? Remember! The punishment of the Day of Judgment which will be much more severe and much harsher! That is because no one has the power of Allah.”

the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “he is not one of us who strikes his cheeks, rends his garments and prays with the prayer of Jahiliyyah.” And he said: “I have nothing to do with those who strike [their cheeks], shave [their heads] and rend [their garments].” And he said: “If the woman who wails does not repent before she dies, she will be raised up on the Day of Resurrection wearing trousers made of tar and a shirt of scabs.” In al-Musnad, it is reported from Faatimah bint al-Husayn, from her father al-Husayn, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There is no man who suffers a calamity, and when he remembers it, even if it is old, he says ‘Innaa Lillaahi wa innaa ilayhi raaji’oon (Truly, to Allaah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return),’ but Allaah will give a reward equal to the reward He gave him on the day he suffered the calamity.” This is how Allaah honours the Believers. If the disaster suffered by al-Husayn, and other disasters, are mentioned after all this time, we should say “Innaa Lillaahi wa innaa ilayhi raaji’oon (Truly, to Allaah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return),” as Allaah and His Messenger commanded, so as to be given the reward like that earned on the day of the disaster itself.

Salam Bhai. Then Y umar bin Al khattab beat his chest, put soil on his head, tore his cloth when Prophet divorce only once umars daughter hafsa. On just one divorce Y he did biddat acts.

@@haiderhassan1098 Walaikum Salam, Kia baqi Sahaba ne bhi wo sub kiya jo Hazrat UMAR R.A ne kiya?? ager ye deen main aesa kernay ka hukum hota to sare sahaba kerte... aur wesay bhi jub sahaba se ghalati hoti thi to wo apni ghalati tasleem ker k rojou bhi kerlete thay. deen may jo hukum hai us ko follow kerna deen-e-islam ko follow kerna hota hai. aur kisi sahabi ki ghalati ko base bana ker Rasol Allah ke wazayh hukum ki khilaf kerna kis terhan deen-e-islam hosakta hai??

Salam. Plz don't say the False stupid N fabricated hadiths like of Abu Hurairah. If U read UR own buks U will find that Prophet gave one divorce to hafsa she went weeping to her house, narrates the incident to umar. Umar tore his shirt, put the soil on his head, weeping bitterly on seeing this Prophet took hafsa back. Whn few companions after uhad heard that Prophet tooth was broken. Few became sad, few slaps their own cheeks, few break their one tooth N one companion broke all tooth. What U said is a false N fabricated one. Hope U understand.

@@tahafarhan salam. Bhai plz kindly read the Hadith, Prophet didn't condemn umar, rather He was please wd what umar did. The prob in our community is that ppl don't read our own buks N gives the judgement as if they R scholars.

​@@haiderhassan1098, First of all your claim is wrong that the hadith was narrated by Abu hurraira. it was narrated by Abd Allah b. Mas'ud, He was one of the Sahaba who is respected by all Muslims, both Shiites and Sunnis. 2ndly, The action of few sahaba doesn't matter, the commandments of prophet s.a.w does matter. and 3rdly, for the sake of argument, if that was the teaching of islam, then why don't you or your imams just break all your tooth, or just one tooth?
