Goa never was captured... because never was a thing before Portugal, was a sevage jungle region with no human presence, created from zero very far of any city of India around, is a settlement colonial, is not a milenar city like Calicut, marathas never was in the region, the region was only take by normal indians in 1970, ever was a irrevelant port to Portugal or India barelly was given up with acords and letters

If you need to see more pristine lanscapes, try to go even further, south of Goa into UK, i.e. Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka State. Goa, (both North and South) has become very touristy and UK will give you more landscapes and beauty. And there are are great beaches, too.
