I don’t know if anyone remembers the show Survivor Man on Discovery Channel. But it was something I grew up watching with my father who is now gone. But he loved Survivor Man because it’s him alone for 5 days with just minimal equipment and camera gear. Having to take his own scenic shots and carry all the gear. Now that I’m older I have a great appreciation for everything I learned from that show and he still continues his series on KZbin to this day (Les Stroud). I can truly say your series remind me of watching those series sitting back on the couch with my father, soaking up sights and information you wouldn’t get from a show like Bear Grylls. So thank you for your series, I could sit here the for 1:41:31 and not take a pause. One tip with those water purifying drops! When you're shaking the bottle initially, have the cap a little bit loose so that it can get into the crevices of the thread, then tighten and shake after. I've heard of people getting sick after using iodine tablets because of living bacteria that were hiding in the thread of their container which didn't get affected because the container was shut tight from the start. Loving the content, keep it up bro!
@W_H_K3 ай бұрын
Agree. It’s also wise to loosen the lid/thread and pour some out of the bottle so it flows over them and mixes with the contaminated water. Let sit for an hour minimum. This should be done at the beginning, immediately after collecting the water. Seriously, filtration and sterilization of water is no joke. Water Filtration is very simple with soils, sands, charcoal, and leaves or fabric. Chemical-free Sterilization is also very simple providing you can bring water to a rolling boil for 5 minutes or a good simmer for 45 minutes.

Pity his instructor did not show him how to catch one small fish and live bait it straight away to catch a bigger fish. Or to get his body into ketosis before starting, then he could have got going on fishing and forget eating a palm heart that gives you macronutrients and zero else. This was slightly better than Starvival Man, but he never went with a bow and fishing gear. Besides being bitten/stung or being eaten by a Jaguar, all this boiled down to the fact he built his own shelter, that he would have been fcuked if it was the rainy season. I would even bet his camp was about a ten-minute walk from the nearest town lol.

To live for a day let alone 5 without the comforts of this modern world and creating your own like the shelter, finding your own food; obtaining your own water etc is simply phenomenal showing how our ancestors lived generations back. Amazon Jungle is a rain forest, as my geography teacher explained: The forest is there because it rains, not the other way around. Even if you cut all the tress, they will grow up again, because it rains pretty much every day there. They took 20 years plus to make a road that crosses the amazon forest in Brazil. And that was the challenge indeed, because they clear an area, and the next day the bush was starting to take over again. Well done brother, that is not for the faint hearted, big balls for being on your own that jungle on that shelter.

this guy seems real, i have an issue about bear grills and reality. i used to live in the Donner lake area near Truckee California , this is in the "high Sierra" Nevada mountains.(the Donner party cannibalism thing happened nowhere near there, lol). we were working on a new Chalet up on the mountain, if memory serves,it was around 7700 foot elevation. We drove down to Truckee for lunch one day,just for fun, we had 4 - 5 feet of snow on the ground, as we neared the restaurant ,looked over at the creek and there were lights and reflectors, and diffusers everywhere, we got into the parking lot and we realised someone was filming, figured it was a scene for a movie,happens a lot in that area, went inside to eat and one of the guys asked what was going on, she says,, some guy named bear, is filming. she was an older woman and she says, guess this guy is famous, well he told me he is, seemed pompous and full of himself to me,, we all hadda laugh, after we ate, the owner took us out and some guy comes running up, yellin at us to leave, big muscular guy, says "leave or ill move you myself", so three of the 6 of us took our coats n shirts off, i stood 6' 6",weighed 220 when heavy and had 22" biceps, the other two werent much smaller, dude says.. so were filming a segment for bear grills, just keep quiet and ill overlook ya being here lol. and we all had a good laugh, which got bear grills attention so he came up from where they were by the creek, he started out wrong right away. he was talking tough and the guard dude just said,, them three dudes are huge, i dont think youll intimidate them bro.. which made us all laugh again,, except for grills, he just walked away. so after that i taped the show and would watch to see what they had done, we all thought it would have been about the Sierras, nope was about him slipping into water that was hidden with a "snow bridge". in Alaska!! i guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do huh?

Xander, I've been following since you started your journey. I've witnessed your ups and downs. I've seen you form new friendships with other influencers. Everything you've done in life whether good or bad has brought you to where you are today. Man what a journey its been. Thanks for sharing and I can confidently say that you've changed for the better. Your mind has found peace and I hope you someday teach others your ways. We need outdoor enthusiasts to show school kids way to detach from every day life and reconnect with nature.

Xander was right, he didn't hurt anything but holy shit how can you say he left only footprints? He razed several square meters of forest to the ground. That's clear-cutting hundreds or thousands of plants. That's one very huge footprint right there.
@owenfish54503 ай бұрын
@@RyanMclain Really? (1) It's a figure of speech from the Countryside Code "take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints." and (2) The Amazon rainforest is losing land at a rate of roughly 10,000 acres per day. The amount of damage Xander caused would have grown back over and repaired itself in a matter of a couple of weeks if not sooner. No different than what most people do in their own yards each summer. Birds, insects and mammals can relocate a few meters without concern. Burn 10,000 acres and they have nowhere to go. Get a sense of perspective dude.

Not too much, relevant, nice rhythm energy and can't wait to play it louder later.

Respect to you for actually trying this challenge solo. Trying to survive in one of the most inhospitable places for a human being. This video gave me serious vibes of those survival shows from the Discovery Channel like 'Man vs Wild' or Duel Survival expect the major difference being that your are actually solo, doing it for real and don't have any drama nonsense for the views and ratings. Plus it alwasy informative to see stuff like this and also read the comments from people giving advice on how to improve some things.

A little tip for ferro rods... keep your "Steel" stationary, holding it down with force. Pull your ferro rod back. This generates larger and hotter sparks than moving the steel and keeping the ferro still. I know it sounds counter intuitive but it make a big difference. Oh also the rigid straight "hard angled edge" of the back of your blade is much better to use than the sharp cutting edge. For one it prevents edge damage but also again helps product larger and hotter sparks.

As a kid, whenever i got home i would always watch Bear Grylls' national geographic series on tv with my family and since then i've always loved videos about (surviving in) nature, but most 'modern' tv rendition of it are always so overly dramatic with all kinds of celebrities/influencers and/or extremely staged. Nothing like the chill, natural and melancholic vibes your video embodies. Since then my family from back then has sadly been broken up. Suddenly getting your video recommended right now reminded me of those good times and gave me such a rush of nostalgia. Definitely subscribing and thank you for doing what you do
