I have the same red Roadmaster, as well. Some points: 1. Be sure to check the air in the rear shock right away; mine had 0 psi. at delivery. 2. Taking off the lowers at 90 deg.+ does help the heat situation; 3 bolts and they're off. 3. Taking off the trunk when not needed makes this bike feel great at a lighter weight and it looks great, too! Like having two bikes in one! 4. Get to know the PIN to get the bike started without the key fob. Key fob can lose it's signal at any time and you will need the PIN. 5. You will underestimate the amount of attention that this bike will get you!

I ride a 2016 Indian Roadmaster (black) and love it! I have permanently removed the large luggage case off the back, removed the two lower front fairings, replaced the huge seat with an Ultimate Seats solo seat with backrest, and replaced the stock pipes with Rinehart 4" slip-ons. When I had the dealership put the Rinehart slip-ons on the bike, we also replaced the stock air cleaner with a High-flow cleaner. The bike immediately has an 8+mpg increase in fuel efficiency as a result of the new pipes and high-pass filter. The Rinehart slip-ons are beautiful because while they bring out the natural low-end rumble of the 111 engines, these pipes are not obnoxious sounding as some exhaust systems are. This bike is lovely to ride... and, yes, heads do turn! Thanks for sharing your experience with your red Roadmaster. There isn't one perfect bike or car, so it is important to find what you love and stand by it.

Just bought a 2016 black RM. It has 5,200 miles and was $17,500. Only Indian at the Harley dealer. Traded in a 2014 CVO Road King, which the dealer was more than happy to take. The Indian is for a niche market, especially at a H-D dealer. This is a great review- covering all the nuances as well as the basics. No unnecessary chatter, just useful information. Great CA coastal highway to do this review. The bike seems well built and designed. I'm looking forward to rolling that throttle past a lot of great scenery. Thanks for introducing me to this bike.

This is one of the best reviews I haver ever seen on ANY motorcycle. Very detailed and thought out, well done. I currently own the Scout, this will be my next. Edit- I ended up getting the Springfield, more my style and some unbelievable features, same short rake. Would love for you to review the Springfield as well.

Really fantastic review, my friend! I loved the way you mixed in the riding with some still slides and it was also quite thorough. This is the first review I've seen that discussed the headlight throw. Never heard a lick about it elsewhere. This is also the first time I heard about the left side gas cap being a dummy cap, but I can appreciate that as I have OCD and love symmetric styling. This was also the first review where someone discussed cruise control and how it responds. I already knew about the quick release luggage system, but again, the first time I heard it discussed in a review and the slide shows showing the pieces off the bike were a nice bonus. All in all, very well done and thank you for sharing.

Excellent review. Right on the money. About engine heat in the summer - I rented and rode a Chieftain and a Roadmaster last summer (2015). In 90 degree heat in stop and go traffic the Chieftain got very hot, but it never got unbearable, and as soon as you got rolling again the airflow took the heat away. In the same conditions the Roadmaster got so hot I thought the inside of my right leg was going to be burned, and it took some time to cool down once it was moving again. I mentioned the Roadmaster heat when I returned the bike. The staffer checking me in agreed the bike gets very hot in those conditions (85-90 degree heat in traffic) and the fix is to pull the lowers off when the temps go up.

Very great and comprehensive review. Beautiful road to be going on to narrate. Looking at some newer models in the Roadmaster. Going from a VTX 1300 to my first bigger bike. A little concerned it might be a little tall, as I'm not so tall. Have to see some measurements I guess and compare the seat height. But I'd be going from 70000 miles, down to 50 with the Indian and hopefully 70000 more! Hopefully everything is just as good or better on the newer ones. I have seen some and they have large touch screens. First time for a dash, ferring, leg ferrings and heated seat and grips oh my!

I have a black 2015 roadmaster, pros, smooth ride great handling great looks great sounding , cons, valve train rattle around 3000 rpm, noisy belt drive under heavy acceleration weak dealers my bike started shutting off and on while visiting Ureaka springs bike meet , next morning was Ok rode 300 mi no trouble then started acting up again this happened five times very dangerous DEaler and Polaris seemed to not care , sent me off every time with what I considerd weak attempt to repair , finally they replaced module and seems ok but talk about flustrated its going to take a while if ever to fall back in love with this machine.

I have one just like your review, see my picture to left, but you talk about the heat produced by the engine, I remove my lowers when temps get above 90 deg. 3 screws hold each lower, world a difference when removed.

I rode the chieftain and liked it, rode the chief and loved it. The Victory Magnum was a dissapointment, too much vibration, and same with the Octane. Indians felt more solid. Next will be the HD baggers. Ride safe.

the review was really excellent, the bike is gorgeous ,I would never buy a bike that big at 900 lbs but that is not a minus thats just me. ,I just don't know if I could handle that big of a bike. Thanks for the view in california ride safe and keep the rubber on the road.

bmwrider 1953 I was concerned about the also. I own a 600 pound bike. I got to say the weight isn't bad. The bike is so well balanced and handles great at all speeds. I only have slight problem with the weight. while walking the bike. Parking spots etc. I can walk the bike back most places with wife on it. Never been real issue. You know to be careful

Great review and a great looking bike. I'm so horribly torn not because I've been thinking of a HD Electra that;s in or about that same class. Obly thing is the Roadmaster is about $3k more than a comparable HD.

After watching this video ... kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoXRdJmPZ72Xjac... I am having second thoughts about the Springfield I am supposed to pick up in a few weeks. My concern is the heat. I did ride the RM and SF at the Indian "DEMO DAY". It was a hot summer day. Yes the rear jug let off heat as is to be expected. But it was only a short demo ride. The heat was not unbearable. I am guessing any OAT less than 85 degrees F, and the heat would be easy to deal with. ANY ADVISE / IDEAS most appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sub'd and t-up!
