Put some new bars on my Scout Sixty. Required a longer clutch cable. Your video is priceless, spot-on. Thanks for making it so simple for guys who may not be well versed in wrenching on these machines!

Thanks for this. I know the video is several years old, but I had the clutch cable snap on me while I was out riding today. Thankfully, managed to ride it back home, but needed a video to show me how to replace it. I didn't even know about Barnett cables. Ordering mine now. Thanks!

Very well done video. I ran into a weird problem where the pin would not come off of the clutch lever arm on the handlebar. And the nut holding it on didn’t come off that easily as I couldn’t get an10mm socket on it as is often suggested, but no matter. So if you take off the engine side of the cable you can create enough slack to get the cable out of the lever end..

Great video, thank you. Always keep the ends lubed, no need to lube the inside of the casing. Polaris had the same issue with the Victory. They need to change the lever design..

My clutch cable broke at around the same mileage too but when I replaced it I found out why. The slot in the lever did not line up with the center of the barrel hole and the slot was too narrow for the cable to drop all the way into. I used a very thin file to widen the slot on one side so the cable fit the slot properly. 12,000 km later cable is in good shape. So check this when changing your cable.

Yah it happens when you don't lube it and keep up with basic maintenance. My stock cable went 10K miles and was still working fine when I decided to upgrade.

Loved the video, very well done and informative. I'm wondering if something is wrong with my clutch pack as I have no free free play with 0 adjustment on the barnett cable...

Great video, and very helpful as I am sure I will be doing this before long. I have a question though regarding the 2 nuts on the clutch end. Shouldn't the 2 nuts be on each side of the boss, or does Barnett recommend putting both on top, and using 2nd nut to act as a jam nut? Thank you Mike

You’re correct I put my nuts on top and bottom as it was from factory.

Hello, did this cable make any difference in the pull of the lever ? I find the clutch on my scout sixty is pretty hard.
@INDIANREVIVAL4 жыл бұрын
yep because it got an elbow

Thank you, I went to Indian, they said it won’t make a difference as the lever springs are still the same. I’m now wondering if I should just return the clutch cable.

Hello Derek, First of all, we apologize for not asking you for permission to use your video over 5 years ago. We recorded this video as an archive to help Indian owners. Looking at your account today it no longer appears, (perhaps it is on another channel) it is because this risk exists that we recorded it. So yes, we can as you ask remove this video without any problem. But for information: we do not monetize our youtube channel, this one is affiliated to an Indian help forum in French (as you can imagine it is difficult for bikers outside the US to find easy to understand information and what is easier to understand than a video?) and as you can see your video helps people who do not have mechanical facility to start for small repairs / maintenance of their Indian. Now it's up to you. Greetings Bikers.
