My 2020 Challenger cable just popped this morning. only 5k miles on bike. apparently Indian clutch cables are a problem. Replacing with Barnett Product.

I can understand a cable on a cost controlled bike like the Scout. There’s zero reason to not be hydraulic on their heavyweight bikes. Plenty of profit in those.

My clutch cable just popped this morning, glad you put this video up! Thanks I just ordered this cable in black and should have it Wed (3/11/20). Hope I can follow you video and get this done by myself.

How many miles on the bike when it failed?

It is best to coat the cable adjuster threads with never seize lubricant for ease of future adjustments and limit corrosion.

I just had my Indian dealer order me the Barnett cable for me . They are going to install it on my scout when it comes in..so thank you. .

The dealer is telling me the cable has been changed for 2018. I wanted them to change it on my wifes scout. I do not trust Polaris they use a lot of cheap parts.
@1ManWrenching6 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. Changed in that it’s not compatible, or changed in that they claim it’s not needed anymore? I could see them finally realizing their source was junk and switching to a better brand. This was happening to all Indians, not just Scouts.

The dealer claims you do not need to change the cable anymore. But I wanted it changed anyway I have very little trust in Polaris, but the dealer was giving me a hard time so I may just do it myself.

How many miles did you get out of the factory cable before it started failing? I'm curious how critical this may be to replace...

did u do a video on the mirrors ? they look Lowe then stock which is what I'm looking for
@1ManWrenching4 жыл бұрын
Sadly no. They are VRod mirrors with integrated blinkers. From eBay. Quality sucks on them.

What’s the length of the cable??? I have a scout bobber with the mini apes, was wondering if I would need a custom cable or would the same one you got would work???
@1ManWrenching6 жыл бұрын
Stock length. Even in the stock setup (well, raked back reduced reach bars) I feel like it could do with an extra inch.
@Gooseygoose146 жыл бұрын
unaclocker good to know, thanks for the reply!!!
@HoustonT176 жыл бұрын
So would you suggest getting the stock or longer? You said get the stock size... but "could do with another inch" sounds like you would have liked to have had a longer cable in hindsight

I went and looked at a scout but the clutch was extremely heavy, would you recommend doing this? would it lighten the pull?
@1ManWrenching5 жыл бұрын
Yes, it doesn’t change the fundamental physics, but it’s such a smoother cable, it definitely helps. Also check out the Rekluse clutch. I did a video on that, too. Saves you from having to hold the clutch at stops or having to ease it out. Makes it an auto clutch.
@ericsuperhawk4 жыл бұрын
Do you have a link for that rekluse clutch? I would love to put one on my girlfriend's Scout.
@jymebale55456 жыл бұрын
Do you have your clutch cable too tight, you should NOT have any even slight bends in the cable.
@1ManWrenching6 жыл бұрын
That’s what it looks like when the cable has failed.
@timmytexlonghorns22066 жыл бұрын
dude you lost a alen bolt on your clutch cover when you re did it, its the one closest to the foot peg on the bottom
@1ManWrenching6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, check out the video where I installed the Rekluse clutch. All my bolts were rusty, I had to drill one out. Since I was one short, I chose the decorative end of that cover to snag a spare from. Replacing them all is on my to-do list.

Iwas checking that part number and doesnt include the 90 degrees turn to help the wire when it gets to the gear box side of the wire; did you order it as a special part?
