I sat on a scout bobber last summer 2019. Friend of mine asked me to come with him to pick up his newly purchased used Honda Fury. While I waited for him to sign the paperwork I gawked at the Indians. The bigger touring baggers never interested me. Honestly drew me away from Harleys in general. I saw a line up of 4 bobbers. Low, matte colors, mean lookin motors. I just thought to myself: "Now that's a big v twin I'd ride. I'm 5'7" by the way. Sat on one and it just felt perfect. I couldn't nearly afford one of these bikes at the time so I didn't bother to waste the dudes time test riding it. I was obsessed though. You're 5k and 10k reviews sold me. I had friends that ride tell me "You can't go from 250cc to 1100cc. That bike's too expensive. Not a good starter bike." After a ton of research and money saving, I bought a 2019 in August. I could not be happier. The former owner made some changes I at first didn't like but have learned to. The pipes are super shorties. Insanely loud. New grips. Cage floorboards. Upgraded headlight. Indian saddlebag. Silly (but now I think they're kinda cool) LED lights. How he didn't get a new seat is beyond me but it only had 3600 miles. Barely broken in. I love it. You're the tipping point to make me buy it man. Thank you.

The scout is a bike that you can easily ride it as a beginner and it won’t thrash you without remorse. It’s also a bike that will throw down if you crank the throttle and let it rip. It all comes down to self control and the scout is a fantastic bike to keep for years
@Importman20093 жыл бұрын
Honestly these bigger bikes are not necessarily not beginner friendly. My very first bike was a Harley Street 750 and I still ride this bike around today.

Beginner bike is BS, just buy what you like, I started with Honda Fury and now looking to buy Scout bobber as second bike, Bobber, Fury, vRod, and Diavel to me are the best looking bikes on the street.

Nice. Yeah I was in the market for a Honda Rebel 500. Everyone says you’ll grow out of it but I was convinced that was the bike for me…until I layed eyes on the Indian Scout Bobber. Like you, I’m now obsessed. I’ll be getting mine this winter when sellers are motivated. I saw a few ppl complain about seat comfort. Did you change the stock seat and, if so, what did you get?
@ajax29019 Жыл бұрын
@@DadDayAfternoon I upgraded to Indian's Comfort seat for the bobber. It's a huge improvement. I've heard the Mustang seat is much better also. My bike is black and I like the contrast of the brown seat so I just stuck with Indian's upgrade.

So here's the thing. I go between the V7 III, the Scout, and occasionally a Triumph Speed Twin or Bonny as I try and make my decision for my first bike. My dad rode Guzzi and I like the style of the V7, Triumph I consider because I'm British and *shrugs*, but the Scout is the bike that really speaks to me. Trouble is, my license test got cancelled because of Covid and here in Germany it's really hard to get a license at all. Point being, I'm reduced to watching great videos like yours to help scratch the itch and hopefully I'll be on the road by spring of next year, and very possibly on a Scout. TLDR; great video. Have you ridden the Scout Bobber 60? Any comparisons to note?

If you replace your pads with sintered EBC's, you will notice a major improvement to braking on any bike IMO. Also I went from Michelin Commander II's on my Harley FXDF to Perelli night dragons and it was an absolute major improvement in handling. I came from the street/sport bike world and my FXDF now handles more like a sport bike, which is saying something since the damn thing weighs 700lbs. Not sure if they have the tire size for the SB, but if they do, something to consider. I'm looking at possibly trading in for the Scott bobber or the Chief, I just can't deal with the vibration anymore.

For a new battery, check Amazon. Make sure to get a AGM type for your bike! Will probably save you some money! With as much as you ride, a little oil consumption is common. You are absolutely right about changing your oil when you do! Oil changes are cheap compared to a new motor!! As far as the valves go, give the dealer service department and see what they say. If the engine needs it you may not notice the power change because it’s comes on gradually.

Word of advice: don't ever have your first bike be something over $5k. Buy something easy to fix and something you won't feel bad about scratching or dropping, like a Honda shadow or Yamaha whatever. One of the intro to mid-level cc engines will greatly increase your confidence without breaking your wallet. If several years go by and you still want to ride, you can then sell your starter bike pretty easily and upgrade to a 900+cc engined bike fresh off the floor.
