I think you confused assembly unit to proper manufacturing units , there are many parts which are being imported like processor, camera, display and because of nirmala Didi's weird tax prices of these products rise in comparison to other countries which makes it expensive compared to Dubai , but in future it will shrink

I genuinely admire the guy and the work he does .. and hence the comment. I’m one of those who met Rana Daggubati at a restaurant and let him eat in peace. Although i did shake his hand on his way out and told him am a fan. To which he replied with “Pic?” .. and I politely denied saying you’ve been troubled enough.. you should chill a bit. Apple's after sales also improved compared to 2019. Altough limited to only Mumbai, Delhi , Bengaluru. Mostly I believe those cities contibute to iphone sales. 1:42 Apple needs to improve after sales to rest of Indian cities. In Kolkata I see mostly people using s23, s24 but iphones are almost non existant considering the poor quality of after sales from apple in the city.(people are buying phones more expensive than iphone but not iphones) The M1 macbook currently selling for 45k-55k in India. A similar windows laptop actually costs lost more than that.

Electronics prices in India are still a rip off when compared to the US, Middle East, HK and some places in EU. In the case of Apple they are still over charging, Samsung is also doing the same. On top the Indian gov. is over burdening the middle classes with new taxes every year in the name of sorting out old Indian tax laws.

There should be a deeper dive into Apple's burst in popularity in India. Anecdotally, which I'm sure more people can add onto, I've seen/heard of a lot of people who are new in the workforce or have very little expendable income through their salaries (eg: 20-30k p.m) opting to purchase iPhones and Apple products, since they're commonly seen as a status symbol, through the widespread availability of pay-later options such as Credit cards and EMI. Leaving aside the wisdom of making such a purchase, which is subjective to say the least, there is an interesting data story to be unearthed there, knowing how many people are opting to buy Apple products on EMI vs outright one-time purchases, with their income levels providing additional context.

I mean, why would they not try India? There are so many people whose income is increasing by leaps and bound everyday. Investments are highly encouraged and iPhones are seen as a luxury/status symbol. The Apple effect is taking over India. You cannot have an Android in blue collar jobs. I am starting to hear stories within teens and 20s that iPhones are also becoming one of the deal breakers in relationships. It will be soon that there will be a visible barrier between those who own iPhones and those who dont. The American culture of Apple being the only "socially acceptable" tech product to own is coming to India.
