The tulwar has been pretty effective for a LONG time. In any case, people often don't realise a tulwar has to be handled different from certain other swords. (arm vs wrist, etc). I have to admit I wasn't originally a fan of the tulwar, but once I learned how it was actually meant to be used, I did some rethinking..

@@mansishmahakul3052 I haven't been to India. My mother has been. It was related to her work (pharmacology). She liked India. There are people in our country who practice yoga and Hare Krishnas. Vivekananda at the end of the 19th century said that the European yogi is a parody of the Indian yogi. So it is. I have developed a program of functional strength training with bodyweight 5x5 Program (5 exercises x 5 sets). Publication in J. Military Knowledge 2021-09. The closest analogue and prototype is Navy SEAL's Workout. 5x5 Program is good thing, but I like to train in the Kushti style. I'm not about red swimming trunks and oil. I'm talking about exercises. In the Western way, everything is done straight and separately, in the eastern way it is tortuous and merged. It works better.

It's a way to make money. Karate for everyone is based on principles that don't work. Bruce Lee called it classic gibberish. So it is. The most important thing in karate for everyone is 4 blocks. It doesn't work.

The talwar seems to me very similar to older Viking era swords, where the guard locks your wrist in place. Later European swords let you use a lot more wrist movement, like katana.

Sir, please read more about a Talwar. It's a weapon which sliced Bahlol Khan into two pieces along with his horse. The wielder of that talwar was Maharana Pratap. You'll see, Talwar is made for slice a person into two pieces whereas a katana is made for piercing and cutting deep into the flesh. It's just that a Katana is very popular now a days.

The british came here and won different kingdoms and made british india . Now you might be say there was akhand bharat but there wasn't . there were 650+ kingdoms in Indian subcontinent before britishers came here . They won war against mughals, sikhs, bengal, maratha but couldn't defeat afghanistan and nepal. Its not only india who is affected Nepal have been affected too. Nepal lost 60% of its land and mostly it couldn't grow otherwise Nepal would be 10x bigger than present Nepal.

With due respect to japanese martial arts and Katana, i wanna let you know that a Talwar is known to be a Baddass in wars as compared to katanas. One incident showcasing the real power of a talwar is when Maharana Pratap sliced Bahlol khan into two peices along with his horse. I doubt a katana can ever do that. They were made differently nd for different purposes. In ancient Indian History, Talwar is known for it's ability to chop warriors into two halves nd these incidents are well recorded as well. A talwar was a very effective weapon in a close combat. On the other hand, a katana had some similarities with the Talwar but a Katana was less flexible, was built for piercing and cutting deep into the human flesh rathar than slicing. So, according to me Talwar had an upperhand as it could do everything a Katana does but the it had the ability to slice a person or an animal into two halves. It's just that katana is more popular in the present times.

It was a master weapon in close combat nd if you go by authentic Indian Talwars, you can't find a weapon more trustworthy and strong as Talwar in a close combat.

Katana was mostly used as a ceremonial sword . the last weapon of choice in battle. And indian talwar 😂 thousends of battles . millions of people were killed with Talwar. Its not for show just. 🤣🤣🤣We still use it in riots There is no comparison between talwar and katana. I love a katana dont get me wrong. But its just for show.

It is interesting to note that in various traditional blade weapons the talwar like the kris, kampilan, etc. have unusual design and different maneuvers. I am not an expert in talwar or katana, but only with some knowledge of arnis. Perhaps a beginner would feel awkward if given either katana or talwar as weapon for protection - the katana requires both hands to hold while the talwar limits the tilting movements of the hand from the wrist. For a beginner it may be better to complement the talwar with a shield.

*_The Talwar is a Beautiful, and frankly more preferable iteration of the Scimitar, similar to the Arabic/Middle East cultures! The Katana is a Beautiful sword and I’m not knocking them whatsoever! But they’re honestly just another iteration of a sabre designed blade! They’re ideal • • • for the Japanese cultural period of the Samurai and specifically, for open land, one on one duels! Shoot, the Samurai didn’t even resort to using their Katanas first in open battles! They preferred long weapons like pole arms, spears, and naginatas over using their Katanas! the katana is a great sword but its pretty useless in cavalry becuase you would much rather use like a naginate or yari , the tulwar is useless in infantry unless paired with a sheild but a killer in cavalry , I can't emphasize how well you can use the tulwar to cleave infantry if you're up on a horse.

There is major difference is Talwar always fight with "DHAL" (Shield )That's why we use only use one hand , Japanese dont use DHAL (Shield). So In real duel Talwar win easy B.cos WE defend katana strike on Dhal & They dont

It's all about hype and marketing, pop culture has made katana so famous that people think it's the best sword in the world. It definitely is a good sword but not the best, historically japan had very poor quality steel and that's why they had to fold their steel to get rid of impurities and increase the strength, it's water quenced which makes it brittle which has its pros and cons. Also katana wasn't even a primary weapon and was used as secondary or cremeonial weapon whereas talwar is a battle tested weapon. If u look at british/french accounts talwar was feared among the Europeans .
