Indiana Harbor Belt Pulling Coal Loads Out of La Grange Park, IL! IHB PB-2 Slug and 1500 SW1500

While crossing the IHB mainline in La Grange Park, I saw a headlight to the south. I went down to find this IHB job working at the Harding Avenue crossing. He had yard slug PB-2 and SW1500 number 1500 for power. I haven't seen the IHB running in a few years, so it was nice to see. They were on a lead for their La Grange Yard, a small storage yard. I caught them pulling in light and backing onto a consist of 40 loaded coal hoppers. Eventually after over an hour they got a lunar signal and departed NB on the IHB mainline. The engineer was nice and waved to me. Very cool seeing a yard slug and an SW1500 pulling loaded coal. Enjoy!

It was disappointing to see the man cross over the railroad tracks after the gate had been closed etc. My Uncle ray who was a trial attorney in Manhattan. Not to put too fine a point on things, but he said, in a moment of certainty that the train you don't see is the one that kills you. He had a lot of wisdom but not a lot of responsibility.

I still remember the one and only time I saw this in Franklin Park. It was night, and I had never seen a slug before. It gave me a good chuckle. It was like when my boys run a model train without the cap on. Good stuff

Love the paint scheme on the engine and slug. Nice nod to the early diesel days on the IHB.
