Dude, I felt like we were uncovering an actual hidden gem when we found out how sexy Crystal Skull looked in black and white. It went from being the worst looking Indy movie to the best looking instantaneously, it was actually unbelievable.

What you got a bit wrong (nitpicks): The dance number at the start, when it goes into the dragon's mouth, is an expressionistic Busby Berkeley homage, not meant to be seen as realistic anymore than the giant shadows and tilted buildings in ye olde German expressionism films. I mean don't the backing dancers race-swap and quadruple in number when they appear in the big empty space? The exposition slave kid, when he's talking about the blood of Kali-zombies he's referring to the actual chanting cultists rather than the kids (I assume). What you missed: Short Round defeats six guards, you kind of mentioned that scene but still, he physically defeats six grown men! The mine cart chase scene, a lot of that looks kind of bad with the shots switching between live action and miniatures/puppets, but ignoring that, the part when the cart jumps the tracks and lands perfectly on the tracks on the other side of the chasm, the odds of that happening are about as slim as the dingy parachute soft-landing. 'Editing software' didn't exist in 1984, they cut the film by hand, manually (a total nit pick). Otherwise fun video. I'm old so I remember that the genre film magazine 'Starlog' ripped 'Doom' a new one at the time for much of the same flaws. Disagree that Crusade is better than Raiders, the biplane-chase sequence in Crusade is ridiculously unrealistic on multiple levels as well as looking like crap with the bad blue screen. Raiders wins, truck chase rules.

Temple is the least good of the trilogy. But for me personally, it is helped immensely by the fact that it has peak-hotness Harrison Ford. O my god, he's so darn sexy in it. Shirtless Ford: Handsome, Fit, Tight Body and Sweaty. Forgive my shallowness, y'all. Anyway, perhaps we should cut it some slack (maybe?) because George was going through a divorce at the time he was writing it.

My parents had VHS tapes of this and Last Crusade, probably meaning to show up those movies at some point, but clearly forgot about them until I found them when I was about 8. Outside of the elephants (which I did and still do adore) on the cover of one, I thought they looked boring and they still have gone unmatched. Someday, I'll see the movies. Just felt like sharing that. Anyways, all this to say, I will come back to this once I do watch the movie!

Me and my school mate cut school in 1984 at 13 years old to catch the first showing on opening day. We saw it. Hated it, although my mate put up at least a better fight, he was still in denial. We both got home, found out his mother went to the school because she needed something from him, he wasn't there, calked my house, my mother said my friend wasn't there, so my mom working in law enforcement with that suspicious mindset, calls the school to tell them it's an emergency and needs to speak to me, they call her back informing her that I disappeared after fourth period. They are panicked, but she is not. She knows me and my mate are huge movie buffs and talking non stop about wanting to see Indiana Jones 2, and that's what we were calling it, on opening day. She assured the school I was just fine, well, fine from any foul play from criminals or any abduction, but not from her and severe punishment when I got home. Both my school mate and I compared stories the next day how our mom's busted us, the immediate trouble we were in, all our phone privileges taken away, no TV or movies after school and month long being grounded. There was a pause after a long time. Then it was me who finally addressed the elephant in the room. I stood up finishing my lunch as we headed back to class and I announced: 'All that punishment and suffering we have to endure now, and for what? That piece of crap stupid ass shit they call a movie. What the hell was that??' My mate was no longer in denial and with head down, monotone voice, just kind of muttered under his breath: 'I don't get dessert for a month. Thanks for nothing Steven Spielberg.' I piled on, 'F*ck you George Lucas. No after school activities for a month!' 'Yeah. F*ck George and Steven. Why'd they do this to us?' 'The punishment didn't even fit the crime.' 'The real crime would be to make us sit through that GD movie again.' And we were from that day forward able to laugh through the pain. George and Steven still owe us $3.25 each for ticket admission for subjecting us to that crap.

'Actually Andrew' has never seen a Busby Berkeley musical I guess? It's a fantasy sequence. There is no void backstage. He shut the doors to Willie's room bc he was being presumptuous by assuming she wanted him to stay. They have their row, and he opens it again to leave after they fight. It makes perfect sense. Most of what you gripe on in this movie are "nitpicks". These movies are live action cartoons to a degree. They're based on old Republic serials, and TOD is the most true to those roots. Thank you for taking off that sweater halfway through. It was beginning to hurt my eyes.

This video is great entertainment for me since I haven’t seen Temple of Doom in many years, but it’s also beating a part of my soul to death as I keep watching, because (please forgive me) …this was my favorite Indy film as a kid… In my defense I was just really into cheap shock value content as a kid and thought this was the closest thing to an R rated movie I was allowed to watch - thankfully I grew up and Raiders is obviously the best one. I guess all of that is to say: the title was correct.

😂… commenting early is a risk I rarely take … BUT! The idea that Steven fell for the Problem, instead of the Continuity, is history. Interviews with the 🤔 Damsel, reveal the influence she had on the Director. Adding credibility to the idea that SHE is being introduced, not Indy. Suffice to say, Temple has so many legs and wings, that it FUN to pull apart. She is living in this delusional world, even that Black Box dance hall is part of her mental landscape. All to be pull down by the grit and blood of her misadventure. - I despised her from day one. All I could think was, “Where is my Darling MARION?!” That was 1984, I was 15.

Now for full context I like all the Indiana Jones movies minus Dial of Destiny mostly because of its own issues but I digress people tend to look at TOD as a "classic" because they were mostly children when it was released and the high controversy behind this movie ie. The depiction of child slavery the questionable depiction of Hindu indian culture and the level of violence and dark themes of this movie tend to come up but people overlook all that because....ok basically I'm saying that Temple doesn't hold up it's fun yes but it's underwhelming it hasn't aged well in certain areas and honestly just because you were like 7 years old or so and thought you were getting away with something doesn't make it a classic sorry for essay great video dude!

I am rewatching through the Indiana Jones films right now as I only watched these when I was a kid and couldn't remember them. Temple of Doom was a massive dissapointment. The pacing was too fast, the characters were weak and forgettable or outright annoying and the dialogue and acting was cheesy. Honestly my least favourite in the series and it actually might be one of the worst films I have ever seen. Which is crazy to think as I enjoyed them when I was younger and thought fondly of them.

Even the gunshot sounds are inconsistent in the first scene with the opening wine bottles. It makes a suppressed noise after he fires the first time and then has a more standard sound after Indy impales him.

At most, Indy is an agnostic who always doubts the existence of the supernatural, and then comes to accept that it MAY be possible through the course of the adventure.

​@thorthewolf8801 Sooooo.... because Henry Sr. is after the Holy Grail, it automatically means Indy was raised in a Catholic household? That's your head-cannon speaking. At no point does Indy ever speak about belief in any religion in the early films. Even early in Last Crusade, dad is hunting for clues for the Holy Grail and whoa here young Indy runs into the house, interrupts dad, but dad holds up a finger and makes him count to 20 - in Greek.This would have been a perfect opportunity to have dad repeat anything from the Bible to help young Indy learn patience and would have also shown us this is a catholic household, but he didn't. If anything, this shows how estranged they are - dad clearly has no interest in taking the time to teach Indy anything and is simply obsessed with finding the Holy Grail, which becomes the spine of one of the themes in The Last Crusade.
