They did exactly what I predicted possible when m300 released. They've used inboard navigation to remove the need and shrink the size of the lidar. I bet they kept the SDK to themselves.

For search and rescue work, I think the H20T makes way more sense. From what I've seen with mine, it would be great for that application.

We also have a H20T, just recently. We're blown away with the camera quality. We've got a lot to learn about thermal but our clients are happy with the image and data. At this stage we are clear that we provide the data, we can't interpolate it very well at this stage

It's not always this way. Right now, the manual mode does not colorize. Only in mission mode does it trigger the camera and capture photos in addition to lidar data

From what I understand, it has an onboard 20MP IMU camera setup, but it is only to colorize the LIDAR points. DJI also just released their Zenmuse P1, which is a photogrammetry specific system (50MP camera with proper lens set-up).

Is there an article or document that compares the accuracy of lidar shooting with anything? With a survey of a total station or level. Lidar photography certainly looks cool, but where is the math and proof?

I'd like to know the answer to that too. It seems like it's powered by the 310's battery so I'd guess you'd need a powered gimbal unless you want to carry the drone around on a stick.

Curious how well DJI Terra works when post processing. Do you need a separate utility when classifying the returns? Does terra also process photogrammetry if you were to add a P1. Or would we need Agisoft or something similar if we want to process our data internal and not subscribe to an online service like p4d or dronedeploy?

I really want to have a fixed wing drone with Lidar, the idéia it's too show how the level curve behaves in forest that will become a farm, so helping the buyer buy a flat area and do the study of inclination for harvesting, see what areas are possible to do mechanic harvest. @@benny5299 Figure 8s are required for proper trajectory computation, they have nothing to do with LiDAR calibration. LiDAR calibration is way more complex and you cannot calibrate it just by flying different figures or maybe the L1 is a new "self-calibrating" LiDAR :) Ask Indiana Jones... ooops... Drones, he is the guru in that :) I'm looking forward to seeing his accuracy tests but if they're like the last time... :) checking visually offsets between GCPs and point clouds... :) I'm wondering how is he calculating the misalignment angles? What about the strip adjustment? I know, he has a software for all that :) Love ppl which are just clicking the buttons :)

@@RTL8139B Figure 8 is calibrating the IMU - it needs to re-calibrate if going beyond 1 km or 10m/s on a flat trajectory and has auto-calibration. If running manual flights then Figure 8 can be run from Pilot to re-calibrate.
