Ballard always sounds good, he says the right things. A lot of times his words ring hollow.

I read his caution on free agency as meaning we would not be so aggressive that we created a cap problem in a future year.

Ballard getting mad because James Boyd asks him tough questions makes me not believe him. Fast forward to next season when we sign 2 more versions of Taven Bryan in free agency and it’ll be “well, look, we signed guys, but you can’t make guys come here” blah blah blah.

When he get mad?
@PaulJones-i5v4 күн бұрын
I don’t think he got mad. He was trying to figure out how to answer the question. The reporter got butt hurt on X because he asked him if has kids.
@mattswinford93174 күн бұрын
In Boyds defense, comparing a professional franchise quarterback to a child is not a good sign coming from your GM. These are people working a job. If I don't do my job, I get fired not compared to a kid who doesn't clean his room. This whole organization just keeps throwing AR under the bus. He may not be the guy, but don't publicly humiliate him maybe?
@PaulJones-i5v4 күн бұрын
No I agree with you and Jake. It’s not the same! Didn't love the answer either, but Boyd seemed upset because Ballard asked him about kids specifically. And I certainly don’t think he meant it as a personal attack on Boyd.

LOL 2 more versions of Taven Bryan is hilarious. That guy must be off this squad next year, if not we are so unserious. Taven got more holding penalties a DLmen! Than tfls, and sacks combined.

I watched it and he is slick! He reminds me of guys who got caught cheating on his wife and pleading with her Oh baby, Oh baby please I’ll be better. I’ll do this, I’ll do that. I’ll make you so proud just believe in me and please accept my apology, honey. I’ll never do it again, etc. etc. etc..all with tears 😢😢in his eyes 👀. LOL. He started out by telling everyone what they’ve all been saying out there using some kind of reverse psychology… start off telling them that they’re all right so they feel good and fall for it again. 9 YEARS, I’ll say it AGAIN! 9 YEARS he’s had. I’ll bet you anything he will be gone next year. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate the guy in fact I’ve always liked him, BUT enough is enough sorry. I hope you guys didn’t fall for this “Oh feel sorry for me” crapshoot. Sorry for the rant, just had to say it.

Do you think Colts bring in Justin Fields to compete with AR at the QB position? He is a free agent. He could get him on a 2 year deal for 7-10Million per year. Any thoughts?
@jacksonstewart74374 күн бұрын
him or we could get one of the “not NFL quality QBs” in the draft for VERY cheap. Ewers, Beck, or whoever else could be 5th-7th round picks that could put major pressure on AR without causing a substantial cap-space hit for a backup QB.

The cure to the Qb woes is simple imo. Find a way to trade for JJ MCARTHY . Offer AR and whatever else it takes. That would change the culture of the team and give the team an accurate Qb.

Ballard’s words pertain particularly to his defense. We saw that a lot of “we like our guys” players were locker room leeches and mediocre players at best. and he’s owning that. If we had a top 15 qb we would have a game next week and Bradley would take the blame for our horrendous defense. Ballard has made some mistakes, but he’s not the problem. He definitely didn’t make the ultimate call to run the QB carousel because Irsay thought we had a “win-now” roster, and everybody saying “oh 8 years he has had 8 years” while Irsay was calling the QB shots for 4 of those years. I have my doubts about Ballard but dude has built an elite offense that has an injury prone and underperforming QB and a defense that was crippled by one of the worst DC’s in the league. He would go somewhere else and build a team that would win if we let him go.
@jacksonstewart74374 күн бұрын
like after watching all of this i cannot express how easily Ballard can turn this around. his major problems were defensive players and HONESTLY gus bradley got the absolute WORST out of these players. he is acknowledging the players’ deficiencies and making claims about fixing these problems. he has built an offensive roster that could win a LOT of football games if we could keep our o-line healthy and if we had a guy at QB who could actually run an NFL offense. i don’t think we’re “right there” (which is what he’s claiming) but i feel like taking our defense from 31st to 17th and making AR grow up could very easily land us in the playoffs. that’s all any other GM would do.

Ballard said his priority has always been taking care of our players. That's great, but I think he needs to re-prioritize. He needs to take care of the fans first. And that means bringing in new players who are better suited than some of the ones we currently have. Ballard has been a good drafter. We get 3-4 starters from almost every draft. But he has been bad in free agency and bad at fixing the QB situation. We need to see multiple high level free agents brought in, underperformers let go, a culture of internal competition (fighting for your place), a good D coordinator brought in, and a good QB option brought in to compete with AR. If he does all of that, I think he will have me (and a lot of fans) back onside and we'll go from there.
@JH-ot5mn4 күн бұрын
Is he a good drafter tho? Sure we get 3-4 starters each draft - because he doesn't bring in free agents?
@jahwords3 күн бұрын
Ballard may be 'our guy', but continuing with him as our GM is a dismal thing. He's had so much latitude and control and has been somewhere between awful and mediocre Go Colts!
@sage809154 күн бұрын
One thing I thought was somewhat encouraging is that Ballard acknowledged that Justin Houston and Denico Aurltry made positive impacts on this team, and that he admitted his reluctance or refusal to sign free agents was a miscalculation. Another guy they didn't mention was Stephon Gilmore. Those guys were all really good players for us but Ballard has gone away from that philosophy completely. Hopefully that changes in a big way in 2025.
@DarrynHendersonКүн бұрын
What good is bringing in free agents when the coach sucks. What good is Chris Ballard when the first job of the GM is to secure the QB and the colts still don't have aQB. And now the colts will probably be starting a new Quarterback in2025. Nine years new Quarterback every year. Can't win like that
