Mark Sanchez played well, yet the Jets secondary could not slow down the Colts passing game. The Jets did two things well in the 2010 rematch: running game (credits to the offensive line) & crucial 3rd down stops. That's how they got the revenge.
@bubufubu Жыл бұрын
You've conveniently forgotten to mention the Colts' Special Teams choking and bone headed timeout call by Caldwell in the last minute of the 2010 rematch. That, more than anything else, is what gave the Jets an opportunity to win the game.

It's intriguing. '06 Colts one of the only SB-winning teams with a statistically F-grade defense. It's odd because they were loaded to the gills with playmakers like Freeney, Sanders, Mathis, Brackett, etc.
@P0RKINS22 ай бұрын
@@andrewcra They had great players in the back end at safety & at DE. The rest of the defense was undersized & played too conservative in coverage. They were solid overall in the Red Zone & playing w/ a big lead where Mathis & Freeney could rush every play. But statistically they were amongst the NFL’s worst in 1st downs allowed (24th), 3rd Down conversion rate allowed (32nd), Rushing YPG allowed (28th) & completion rate allowed (32nd). Had problems getting off the field every year except for 2005 & 2007. And then even those years those problems came up again in the playoffs.

Garcon caught everything in this game. Too bad he dropped a big one at the end of the first half of the subsequent Super Bowl which could have put the Colts up 14-3 at half instead of 10-6. Yes, it made ALL the difference. If Sean Payton still decides to risk an onside kick, recovers, and scores, the Colts are still ahead 14-10. If it fails and the Colts recover? Now you just gave Manning a short field with the ball and a 2-score lead. The Colts likely run away with it. Garcon dropped two crucial 3rd down passes, and Collie dropped one late as well that eventually led to a 50+ yard field goal attempt. It's always easy to look at the Manning INT in that game as the dagger, but they were done before that moment. Happened to Manning all too often.
@WalterWhiteFootballSharing3 жыл бұрын
Manning's curse was his defense; how many times the lead was given up by the Colts in Postseason was historically awful. Brady rarely had the same problem; playing with top 3 defenses every successful SB run. But if it was even as low as 8th place D; Eli gets the late lead change in 07,11 SBs. Nobody got a 4th quarter lead change TD on the 01,03,04 Pats. This was a defensive dynasty
@WalterWhiteFootballSharing3 жыл бұрын
In NFL history, postseasons are won by the better defense, and NFL MVP QBs of #1 Offenses always always always lose in the postseason. 06 Colts and 09 Saints are the only exceptions, (Brees should have won 09 MVP) 20th place D. Even 2019 Chiefs ranked 7th in fewest points; which is remarkable, usually its top 5 in Defense.
@aaronjackson93852 жыл бұрын
@@WalterWhiteFootballSharing in 2003 the Panthers did get a 4th quarter lead change on New England. Why wouldnt it be a defensive dynasty? All the talented players were on defense. Brady was the only great player on offense until the addition of Dillon in 04..yall love to blame Mannings defense..did his defense complete 45 percent of his passes at home in a dome in 99? The penalty at 38:00 changed the game. Up until that point Peyton hadn't figured the Jets defense out. Jets would have had a 3rd and 2 and probably get a first down. Peyton never sees the ball and the Jets go into the half up 17-6 or 21-6. Instead the penalty backed the Jets up and then Peyton got the ball back and scored a TD and figured the Jets defense out. Colts still might have won in the end but I think it would have been a lot closer. Jets were on fire up until that point.
