There are games that are just symbolic in sports history. This is absolutely one of them. Indy and Manning were never going to win a Super Bowl until they scaled Mt. Patriots. After all the disappointments, the tide seemed to turn with that big MNF win in 2005 but they flamed out in the playoffs against Pittsburgh. Then they beat them again to start this season 8-0, but then struggled like crazy the second half of the year. So having this game at home, after New England ironically did them a major solid upsetting that great Chargers team in San Diego...only to fall behind 21-3, it was like "there they go again". Except...this team, maybe not as talented as the 04 or 05 teams but more resilient, finally healthy (Bob Sanders) and having Adam Vinatieri...finally made the plays and got the breaks that had seemingly always gone Brady and Belichick's way. Other than the Lakers/Spurs Game 5 where Robert Horry's dagger 3 went in and popped back out in 2003, this was the most symbolic game I've ever watched where the 'gods' were finally on the other team's side. The recovered fumble for a TD, Reggie Wayne's near disaster after the catch on the GW drive...the Colts FINALLY got the breaks to break through.

Jeff Saturday should be a Hall of Famer. He was dominant in his 2006 playoff run. In 4 playoff games I never had him losing a single snap. Not a single one. He dominated Kelly Gregg, Halotti Ngata and even Vince Wilfork. One of the best players I have ever seen. At 6'2 303 lbs he used his lack of height to his advantage. I’m sure you’re already aware but that didn’t work out too well lol, the colts simply have bigger needs than QB, idk why ALL the blame went to wentz

I'm reading a book about how habits work and how we can change them... a part of the book talks about this game to explain them more and I came here to witness habits in a good example of their greatest embodied in this game. What a game!

Wondering if Mahomes vs. Allen will take on a similar vibe with each one going through the other to reach the SB

@Fernando Guedes I just hope that Josh Allen takes the Peyton Manning role where he has a playoff record against Patrick 6-2
@Blues052162 жыл бұрын
@Fernando GuedesExactly, and historically speaking, I am comparing Josh Allen to Peyton Manning and Steve Young because Allen could be getting the same treatment as them with statements like "he can't win the big game" and "he can't get the monkey off his back".

Won’t happen. Too much QB talent in the AFC. Those two plus Burrow,Herbert,Jones and Jackson. That’s a lot of talent right there.

26:59 wooooo boy I remember watching that live and I nearly jumped out of my clothes for a split second but Reggie got it back. Great year for football but I sorta wish the Colts and Bears could've tied. :)

Peyton had to overcome so much fluky bullshit to win this game. The Maroney fumble which somehow ends up as a NE TD. The special teams giving up a huge return right after they tied the game and momentum shifted back to NE. It always seemed everything was against Indy in these game. So happy they persevered through it and finally won.

This year will always be one of my favorites I'm the biggest Manning fan but if you remember Bob Sanders the safety was a big reason they went to the SB, he was injured and the defense was playing horrible when he came back in the playoffs it was a HUGE spark and they started Winning he will be one of my favorite Safety ever for that

You got the '81 or '88 AFC Championship in the pipeline? Could go for some Freezer Bowl highlights or watch how Marv Levy got the idea to steal Cincy's no huddle scheme in '88. This is dope though. I remember watching the 06 AFCC in my dorm room. I had gotten my own dorm with a personal bathroom that semester. It was really nice. Missed the hell out of that place. I had it made and didn't appreciate it enough. That's what I remember about this game, lol.

No one taking about how good the source looks? Video is so clean for 2006. Just compare it to the AFC for 2003.
