Bobby was a good friend and miss him always. I was surprised and honored to see our ADT Automotive Bonneville Land Speed Car at the end of this video with me standing next to Bobby. What memories at Bonneville, Pikes Peak, And snowmobiling at Al and Al Jr’s Oso Lodge in Chama NM over the year. Bobby was our spokesperson for our car auction company for a decade u til we sold it in 2000. Miss you my friend as well as Bobby Jr and Al….

Aside from Bobby being one of the best Indy Car racers he was the best Indy racing announcer ever. No other announcer could explain on the fly the happenings of a race better than Bobby Unser and I've watched every Indy 500 since 1979.

I met Bobby Unser at Laguna Seca in 2007. He was everything that people said...just a great guy. I asked him which Indy 500 win was his personal favorite and he answered "The first one is always the best!" He was so enthusiastic and friendly to me. I'll never forget talking to this racing legend who made me feel like I was just as important as himself. Thanks Bobby!

Bobby brought a tear to my eye today... I remember when my brother got lost from our family in 1964 at Milwaukee and we found him sitting in Bobby's car that was on the trailer...! He asked him if he was lost and he said yes, so Bobby told him I'm going to put you in my car and you stay there till your family comes around...! (Same race Jim Hurtubise was burned bad in a wreck)....What a great guy "Uncle Bobby" was...! A true racing LEGEND, fun guy and a character... I'm going to miss him.... RIP Uncle Bobby

I remember Bobby Unser more as a broadcaster at Indy Car races than as a driver but the knowledge he carries behind the mic was very insightful & fresh as if he drove the cars before going to the booth... a full life for one of the all time American racing greats, a voice that will be missed come Memorial Day weekend...

@Peter Evans Don't put the blame on the narrator, what we are hearing and seeing here is the final approved product from the *executive producer* of the video. The narrator is voicing the video, and reading the script, to what the *executive producer* wants. If the narrator doesn't do the voice-over to the satisfaction of the *executive producer,* then another narrator, aka _voice-over-talent_ will be hired to do the job. I have familiarity with such videos as this as I've had experience with audio production work.

Wonderful memories of Bobby Unser and the Penske racing team. My dad, Al Galler, was instrumental in Norton Company's sponsorship of the team and that involvement was the source of tremendous pride and enjoyment. I remember how thrilled they were to find out that Bobby was going to be driving for them, not just because he was a so well respected but because he was a such great guy. What a gifted and well lived life. I know my dad will be in the long, Heavenly receiving line waiting to shake Bobby's hand when he arrives.

The 1968 year when Bobby Unser won the USAC Championship Car series certainly made for heightened drama for that season. Unser won a string of races at the start of the year, which concluded at the Indy 500. Most everyone, including me, thought Unser had a lock on the championship that year; but it didn't turn out so; with the season's end final points total, between first and second, the narrowest in USAC Champ Car history. Unser had a dry spell from the winner's circle after Indy, where Mario Andretti was slowly catching up to Unser as the season progressed; with Andretti going as far as to switch from the temperamental Turbo Ford DOHC to a turbo-offy engine in mid-season, and winning from the switch. After 27 races that season, it came down to the last race of the season, the Rex Mays 300 at Riverside, to decide the championship. Unser played it cool in that race, stayed out of trouble, with finishing ahead of Andretti to clinch the championship by a handful of points. Meanwhile, Andretti had mechanical issues with his car, hopped into the STP Turbine; crashed it; then hopped into Lloyd Ruby's ride to finish out the race. It's doubtful such drama will ever be repeated in motorsports.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Bobby Unser, Al Unser, Parnelle Jones, Johnny Rutherford and Lloyd Ruby at an autograph session in Wichita Falls, TX. A freeway overpass was being dedicated for Lloyd Ruby who was from Wichita Falls. As a kid that grew up in Colorado I was a big fan of the Unsers. The year Bobby raced at the Indy 500 for the first time. My parents and I went to a sprint car race that same weekend at the Colorado State Fair grounds where Al Unser was racing.
