On TU-160M, the report says IAF is uninterested... the fact is IAF and GOI do not want to annoy US counterparts as we have already bought S-400 and that was an exception purchase, or else we could have faced sanction. If any proposal from the US Govt comes and that time our budget constraints will not be a problem and we might go for exceptional approval. The point here i wish to make is we are now surrounded by 3 enemies and we need to build. Heavy air force and strategic bombers is a must. Being 4th largest economy and crying for funds does not looks good. The depleting IAF sqds and too much rely on HAL have actually crashed our hope for additional Tejas in time. Pity with the IAF chief and his frustration clearly shows our laggard system...PAF and its decision-making is 100% better than us...

The USA has vetoed the sale of SAAB Gripen to Columbia,the same would be the case with our Tejas if the aircraft of not 100% indigenized. I hope the TEDBF is powered by twin Kaveri engine in current form, that can be upgraded later once the after burning section is developed by BROMOS aerospace, rather than begging to the USA for engines . Re TU-160 bomber rejection: We Indians have a "poor" and "cheap" mindset. India's GDP is almost twice as large as Russia's and India's forex reserves are equal. Yet Russia has so many aircraft mfg co's and pump out TU-160's like confetti. And we can't build runways long enough for them. We are willing to get the shit bombed out of us by China but even then we won't get ourselves to cover our butts. We learn our lessons the HARD WAY after losing our teeth. Our armed forces and central bureaucracy are full of old babus at the top. NO VISION.

The problem is our budget and corruption. If Pakistan with 20% of Indian defense budget is keeping up to us then we should set up proper investigation on whether there is rampant corription is involved here. Plus India also need to increase its defense budget. With $70+ billion we cant do proper R&D or modernize our defense forces. India should be more focused on our Airforce and Naval projects. The way Airforce is moving, very soon Airforce will go unoperational. With growing threats of a 3 font war, India and Modi government is making a BIG mistakes with defense modernization and budget allocation. India should have a defense budget of minimum $150-200 Billion in todays time to meet all the requirements.

US has half the army size India has, but they spend more on R&D and modernisation costs. That $20 Billion is also often not spent properly. Dont think that if India is ordering equipment worth $10 Billion, our government immediately transfers the amount, instead it enters into an installment scheme. In last 15 years what big purchase did Airforce make???? Plus the delay in even choosing a fighter for MRFA and Submarine projects taking decades and still not yet concluded!!!! Excuses wont save India in a war!!! Wasting time and very little budget incriment will cost India very dearly one day, mark my words. Congress governments could be a corrupt government, but atleast they never neglected the defense acquisition like Modi government did. Make in India is a big fat failure. With little to no budget for R&D a defense industry cannot be set up. Time and again bad decisions and pending projects us simply killing our capabilities. Remember, Pakistan and China is not sitting idle like we are. When cant spend in R&D then why waste time and not importing equipment???? This has no logical explanation whatsoever!!!!!! Theres no point becoming an economic powerhouse if you dont have proper defense to protect the incoming threats. AK Antony openly said they dont have the money. Congress did not purchase single new equipment in 10 years. Artillery purchase happened in Modi government since Congress was worried like Bofors. All congress did was followup order for assembly which was setup for previous orders. There is research material in Singapore Rajaratnam university on how UPA government was worst in defense since independence and how AK Antony is the worst defense minister india ever had. I recommend you to read. Terming Make in India failure is another joke. Because of Make in India, we are self sufficient in ammunition. Because of make in India we have private ecosystem which exported 15000 crore equipment. Because of make in india L&T, Tata, Mahindra, Kalyani, Adani and many more in this industry. You can see them delivering faster than ever. When we never allowed private and there is virtually no ecosystem, it will be painful. It will take longer time to achieve that goal. But that is the only way forward in case of war. Depending on import is biggest risk in case of war.

Without GE engines nothing is possible. Whether ORCA TEDBF MK1A OR MK2. And to fulfill the dreams to get engines first give contract to USA for f35 or k21. And to stop giving engines to HAL is USA responsible and internally GTRE who couldnt provide back up plan of kaveri engines to HAL and all the work has stopped. IAF is suffering HAL is suffering and we are at the mercy of USA. Also it is opening doors for full fledged private sector in aero industry. As a back up plan take AL31 engine as for another mk2 design. ADA will take 2 years to change tedbf to airforce version. ADA please try for flat nozzle also for every aircraft. When on mig29 upg an additional storage for fuel can be made so why not a flat nozzle be added on an aircraft to the rear end of the engines. Please try. I think it can be done. Good luck.

HAL is an white elephant n a liability for the country. Surprisingly when world most countries are working on 6th gen fighter. HAL even can't be able to fulfil its first order of 40 Tejas fighter aircraft. HAL should be privatise n take over by TATA aviation which can turn around it's work culture n target achievement. Our IAF is suffering a lot as far as fleet strength depletion is concerned. Only 36 Rafael can't do much as far as two nearest adversaries are concerned.
