One of the reason women face issue with seeking employment is that the Infrastructure, transportation and law & Order is not that good which can make them comfortable while going to work. Well developed transportation system has not yet covered the major metropolitan cities forget about the small cities. Law and order is also week in small cities. Many workplaces and employers are not women friendly. So until and unless strong laws are brought to overcome these issues with a strong executive to Implement it. It will be impossible to become a developed country.

1. Despite growing economy, women LFPR decreased, unlike East Asian economies 2. Unpaid labour of women. 3. Unpaid labour is the biggest freebie for formal economy. 4. Loss of agency of women 5. Patriarchy= Control of female labour. 6. Women don't get time to seek outdoor work. When they get work, they get clustered in low paid labour 7. Bias against women- Mohan Bhagwat's "contract". 8. Caste, Religion, etc.

9. Assets and credit access low. 10. Lack of infrastructure. 11. Inefficient system actually. It gives a false notion of labour productivity. This domestication of women according to "contract" masks the truth.

12. Suppresses the social and creative potential of women labour by domestication them to certain unpaid labour. Women labour become just a freebie. 13. Law and order. Rapists released from jail.

14. Even the employees in schemes like ICDS are not seen as regular public employees. Unequal status of the workers. Underpaid, volunteer workers. Don't get eben half of minimum wage. 15. Institutions are dominated by men. Law makers are also all men. 16. Reservation can be used for women for sufficient number of women in all institutions to feel confident. 17. India has relatively high political representation of women compared to other countries, but low socio-economic rights. Panchayats don't function well and women leaders may not have real power. Chile, Columbia, etc(where half of cabinet are women) are better examples, were women are actually empowered. 18. Women empowerment in economy is one factor to make India a developed counties.

Also, in the informal sector, like housework, women hand over their entire earnings to their husbands. And they genuinely believe that this is the right thing to do. This is something that really bothers me.

Maybe they should go their own way and do it all on their own. The men should do the same.

My 2 cents on this. World over and everywhere there are women who must be given employment. Single mothers, sole earning members, women from remote places with no opportunities or no support etc. Today the one's who take advantage of women impoverment are the ones who are already well established women. The only reason to climb up a ladder is a (flirty) male boss or a feminist. Im not taking away on the hard work women do. But sometimes it is not the case. It is also about giving some one an opportunity. Everyone male and female are equally gifted. I lost opportunities as a man even though I was and am well suited for something because of "diversity"... now we have all women superiors or mostly only women departments... where is the diversity and how is it fair to one's who need jobs. There has to be a demarcation between career and employment. We are no more in the world of rat race for careers but for survival and employment. Thank you

First of all India is not a Patriarchy. Our constitution has given special rights to women which not a patriarchy does. On Individual level it might be but also in Major cities it is not. Blaming Patriarchy is the most illogical thing to say. Even if you make India a Matriarchy then also you will never see 100% of women's participation in workforce. Women's nature themselves enable patriarchy. We should stop expecting women's 100% contribution on workforce. A real liberal country is that which accept a working woman but also a woman who wants to be a housewife and a mother.

I m a woman and totally agree, these leftists behave as custodians of nature but are obsessed with changing the innate nature of a man and woman in the name of godforsaken equality. We are created different! Having said this, no society is perfect and we can also make some improvements.

South Indian societies are mostly matriarchal in nature, & yes i agree with you. This illogical blame game needs to stop, look at the grassroot level where empowerment is the need of the hour, they either don't explore enough or completely ignore it as they belong to the bottom of the bottom. Modern laws & all the perks are exploited by the Urban or semi rural women only. I'm all in for equity but like all the other movements this is not about it, it wants power. It happened in western societies, they want it in India & other countries too.

I lost her when she turned an interesting and important debate about problems in the underlying fabric of Indian society inyo a rant on the current government. We don't have to paint every problem with the same brush. I don't know why "intellectuals" lose all perspective and can't have a nuanced conversation anymore without pinning everything to Modi.

We would be happy if there are more institution in rural areas of bimaru states.there lies the weakest link which should be strengthened. Until women in rural areas boosted and job opportunities available India will never be an economic superpower. We have to act as a facilities and change our outlook towards women goals. Give them space. Our GDP would increase as it had happen in countries of Japan Korea china Europe etc.
