Banker locomotives are used particularly in the ghat section where front locomotive becomes unable to pull the train due to steep gradient,in that case banker locomotive pushes the train in upward direction during the passage of the ghat section,this is the the purpose of it.

A lot of South bound trains have very few halts in North India but they usually stop at every major station in their Home state but this Legendary Train is different. Just 3 stops in the entire southern region and the 6 hr 30 min non stop run from Vijaywada to Chennai to cover 430 Kms is just amazing. Don't think many sleeper class train have such amazing non stop run.

Thank you for making this video. I board to Delhi bound trains from Gudur/Tirupati in my childhood. I always wished for a stoppage in Gudur for Taminadu express since its super fast and minimal stops. This unique privilege doesn't exist for most of trains in this route ( e.g Kerala express) 😊 love from USA

Bankers are used for anti slip while traveling steep gradients so in case there is any issue with the braking , bankers use it to avoid the train from losing control. It's not used to push the train like many people think
