Absolutely correct! 😀 If you are getting hypothermia and continue in the same conditions, it just gets worse and worse until you are 6 feet under.

The cold is purposeful, as it provides the best condition for which to test the brain's capability to handle pressure and still perform tasks. The job for a typical SEAL is a very stressful environment and with specific tasks to accomplish that would be challenging even without the stress, so how well the mind functions under stress is crucial to find out, for they can't train the mind to handle it better, for the limit of the individual is always going to be that limit. This also allows the NAVY to test the character of an individual. If, under loads of stress, harsh conditions, and a difficult path towards success, a person is prone to quitting or taking shortcuts, that is a character issue that can't be trained out of the person so it will always be a limiting factor for that person. Lastly, there is teamwork and there is self, and if a person is orientated to mostly be for themselves and not dedicated to the team, they will always be that way, and so not trustworthy to give the sacrifices needed to accomplish a mission or to ensure that their teammates survive. The NAVY can train an individual to be a stronger person. They can train an individual to have more skills. They can train a person to have a greater knowledge base to know what to do. What they can't train an individual to be is a better match for what the other SEALs need in character and spirit, that you have to bring yourself. Fairness is never a mission objective, even in training.
