Udupi is the center of Dwaitha philosophy propounded by Shri Jagadhguru Madhwacharya (Incarnation of Vayu Putra in Kaliyuga..Hanuma, Bhima, Madhwa). There are Ashtamutts in Udupi who take the turn of worshipping Lord Krishna every two years. Initially in 12th Century the rotation was every two months but later during Shri Vadiraja teertharu's time, it was changed to two years. This tradition is being followed from 12th C to till date. Lord Krishna idol was worshipped by Goddess Rukmini in Dwaparyuga which is the main deity. Madhwa philosophy was also dawn to Dasa Sahithya where innumerable Dasa's have composed thousands of songs in favour of Lord Vishnu. Dasa sahithya started from 14th C till 18th C. Lord Krishna himself gave his Darshan to Dasa's. Shri Purandara Dasaru is Pitamahanof Karnatic classic music. He was incarnation or born with amsha of Shri Naradha Maharishi.
