@vishwas5257 our consumption is growing pretty rapidly. How else do you explain that the total exports is increasing every year but the percentage of exports to gdp has decreased compared to UPA govt. Just do simple math and you will find that the consumption is quite robust. It's not enough to raise the gdp growth by itself.

Doubling farmer income requires farm reform. Farmers opposed it because they must be mad is correct assessment. 1991 reform aslo faced pushback. GST also faced pushback. Every reform faces pushback. That doesn't mean they are bad and we shouldn't try to implement those reform.

We are a democratic nation though democracy has been abused.. the intent and the way Farm bill was introduced was set for disaster.. for political gain same Govt withdrew the Bill without any explanation and way forward. In short Modi Govt need to relook the way the reforms are introduced and implemented. GST structure was originally designed by UPA. NDA ruled states were opposing it and finally it got through when they came to power

@shankara1865 it was originally upa who asked for farm bill. But when modi brought it they opposed it. NDA opposed GST because of tax loss. Modi gave compensation for tax loss to the stated. Why didn't upa gave compensation. It was upa's failure.

Tell me one thing..were farmers consulted before framing these laws?? Or were they explained after at least? Did the PM talk to these farmers who sat for months in the capital itself? If they were beneficial to them who in their right mind would oppose? They opposed because those laws were against the benefits of farmers and indirectly beneficial for corporates.

It could lead to civil war like manipur. The problem with Adani and Ambani is that they have became rich by exploiting and acquiring Indian's natural resources by taking loans from public sector banks. India's businessman are not like elon musk or jeff bezos . They do not create new technology or invest in new business. They have no interest in research , science and technology. They are just interested in making money by taking loans from public sector banks and acquire the natural resource.

@SUstaxdnerange actually bengal's gdp per capita was decreasing all throughout UPA's term. Even the brilliant, esteemed MMS could not turn Bengal's fortune around. It is only under Modi's rule that GDP per capita of Bengal is getting some kind of traction. Bengal's contribution to Indian economy is, if any, absolutely abysmal. For the amount of attention W Bengal consumes in Indian political discussion, its contribution back to the Indian economy is nothing to boast about.

@@hiteshgujarathi4636 You need to understand that GST collection is not about GDP, it's about inflation. For example - if milk is taxed at 5% by GST and milk price grows, then GST will grow as well. If milk price doubles, inflation doubles, as well as GST collection. Because GST is collected on final selling price. Growing GST collection is not a sign of a country's progress, but not in India, it's a sign of growing inflation

But the good side is spending will increase and small businesses will grow.
