Hi. If it is local coop I understand that you would have to display the field of view of all players but if you do it online that would be cool to have a mode where each player only see the others LoS but not the enemies in it. Like for example each player has a color and the line of sight is displayed with that specific color and you have to call out ennemies to others using "landmarks" and a compass

damn this is an interesting idea. i'm thinking online coop so it's possible. i like the concept of relying on each other for LoS (maybe other things as well). it also leads me to another idea where you operate a giant mech or some sort of a gunship as a team.

your idea reminds me of old predator movies (1 and 2) where there's different types visions. anyways thanks!

@@Roundbeargames there could also be different equipments that affect the LoS like a sonar that provide position of moving objects near you. You can also imagine a lever where some players have guns but restricted LoS and the others does not but better LoS. If justified by the situation / scenario that could reinforce the cooperation aspect of it. Like spotters and snipers working together. If going full coop route, opening the map could obstruct the screen of the player doing so so the others has to protect him while he's looking at it.

yea i didn't think much at first but seems like there's a lot of things you can do with the line of sight. i like the sonar idea too. definitely will be trying that out over the course of development (along with a bunch of other things!). i think i'll have singleplayer AND coop. but there'll be incentives to play with a teammate and work together.

Hi, This video is old but I have to ask, how is it not lagging with so many raycasts?
@Roundbeargames5 ай бұрын
Its mostly coding basics. Optimization
@Manimanocas5 ай бұрын
@@Roundbeargames What do you think is roughly the amount of raycasts you did on this project without it lagging? I'm just struggling to optimize a similar fov system on a different engine and I have no idea if the amount I can currently handle is good enough because I'm still getting a weird artifact happening on far away shadow edges when I move the aim and I do not notice it happening in your implementation.

@@Manimanocas 1000+ pr something. I forgot. It wasnt about raycasts
