I was a huge fan of "Of Monsters and Men" (I still love them), and I thought their music was really hard and too beautiful to easily play (they play indie folk, pop, rock) then I started learning guitar and could play all of their songs in like 5 months...

Cool video thanks - my vote is for a rock song next eg Green Day. Would love to have seen some detail on how you or Cory chose those guitar embellishments - eg how the notes linked to chord structure etc.

1:17 as a beginner I'm really interested to know what he was playing there. I understood the IV V VI part, but what kinds of chords are those exactly? They don't look like open or barre chords, are they power chords or something else?

It’s like a triad on a piano but the 5th is an octave lower.

Indie folk it's not easy or difficult..., music, art, it's about living, experiences, feelings, ....etc, otherwise they are only chords or sounds, nothing more. Easy come, easy go...
