Slight clarification on Harold Halibut: the game uses 3d models that are scanned in from clay sculptures. So it has a claymation look without actually being claymation. This isn't a knock on it, as the result is pretty awesome.

It is heartening to see Harold Halibut on here. It looks to be a very, very special project, and I hope it will gain a lot of traction and be remembered fondly.

One word of caution for those who like the looks of No Rest For the Wicked. It is essentially an isometric, random tiered loot souls like. 90% or the mechanics follow standard souls like formats including stat scaling weapons, weapons define your move sets, and a stamina based combat system with consumables configured as you would expect if you play the genre. It looks beautiful and dense with exploration, but it is more for souls fans who want a bit of Diablo than it is for Diablo fans who want a bit more strategic combat. I myself am interested, but the marketing on this one is incorrect enough I thought it was worth mentioning.
@ReversedCentaur5 ай бұрын
I feel like that is exactly how it has been marketed?
@abraxis595 ай бұрын
@@ReversedCentaur Unfortunately not for many. If you have been watching the videos then you know exactly what it is. If you listen to the devs, it is a Diablo style ARPG with more difficult and strategic combat. In fact, they even said they were coming for D4 and PoE in their initial statements. It was a marketing disaster that they never stopped doing and it caused a lot of confusion for people who did not look into the game enough. If you look at the play and ads for PoE2, that is exactly what some people were expecting and this is way more souls like than PoE 2 could ever be even with the tougher bosses. Either way, I certainly knew what I was getting into and, so far, its a solid game with some big flaws to work out, but I think they will.

Harold Halibut my #1 for sure -- even though it's more of an interactive game of a movie, the look and story are really drawing me in. Kingsgrave also looks great. I'll wait on the 1.0 release (or console release) for No Rest for the Wicked, which as Clemmy says, "does look awesome".

There are some really beautiful and creative games here! But, I miss the linear action adventure games because everything seems to be metrovania, open world, roguelite, management, building, rpg games. There's been some really great linear games by indie devs, and I want more :)

Cthulhu's Reach: Devil Reef - Apart from another tongue-twister title (how does that work?!) the isometric perspective and retro "grainy" pixel art is A-mazing! Love it plus co-op, sign me up. Even better if you end up squabbling with your friend over limited pick-ups: "That boomstick was mine!" - "Wrong!" Lifecraft - Looks like an appealing take on the factory builder genre only this time with mRNA protein transcriptions and complex chemical pathway logic circuits? Lol. Looks satisfying however as these games tend to be and compulsive with warding off the bacteria/fungi/virus threats. Akatori - Has smooth movement and combat so is always a winner in my book for metroidvanias. Just makes the second-by-second gameplay action on screen merge with fun decision-making in your head: Peak game quality if pulled off.

I really enjoyed the NextFest demo for Dream Tactics, and I’m looking forward to digging into the full game. Cthulhu’s Reach looks interesting, we’ll see how it does in early access. And Ants Took My Eyeballs deserves to be tried just on the strength of the title

I don't know if it's a coincidence from the games you picked but what is with even Indie games all having early access now?
@XionSteel5 ай бұрын
Woke up to Dream Tactics being released so i picked it up, but didn't get a chance to play it yet with a few more games on my plate. Can't really say i'm the biggest fan of instance jumping fights where tactics fights is all that you do, so knowing that it has exploration in between fights (with possible hidden things) is of interest.

Dude you say Dave the diver isn't an indie, which it isn't, but in the same video you call no rest for the wicked one? Moon studio has lost their indie status they are pretty big now.
@iank14195 ай бұрын
Indie means ‘independent’, not small. Moon Studios isn’t owned by one of the major publishers, so by definition they are ‘indie’. Sure, once a company gets big enough the term stops applying, but Wikipedia says Moon Studios has 80-ish employees, which is far from massive.

that's the trouble with this channel. Where is the boundary? Some developers don't state their size so I have no way to know, even linkedin may not be right, but yeah, definitely more indie than MINTROCKET but very much less indie than Slay the Spire

@safesafari48065 ай бұрын
@@arnashe8538 well when you buy an indie game it can feel nice knowing your supporting a small team, and knowing that your purchase matters and your helping someone achieve their dream, and thats a big reason why people will buy indie games,but when you have big companies who have grossed over a hundred million dollars who still get labeled indie, then they are competing with those smaller studios in an unfair way
