Great tutorial, I've always loved the look of a 2.5d effect and now I know how to do it in Natron. Thank you for posting the tutorial!

At minute 10:00, I´m using windows: CTRL, and DRAG the parameter? Drop it onto TARGET property. That's all? So let me get this: All 3dcards, have their own "camera" individual settings?

Yes, each Card3D has it's own camera properties. You can import a .chan file of camera data from Blender, or you can control it manually. Each Card3D is basically one 3D object, so if you want to combine multiples, you link the cameras. And yes, CTRL, Click and Drag from your "Control" card to the Target.

Hey again, sorry about my bugging. I'm seriously trying to get into natron here but very frustrated. I really don't want to have to go to AE. I have a jerky piece of footage that I'm trying to stabilize. The tracker only goes so many frames before stopping and won't go any more. Then I try to roto the subject/figure so I can blur the background. BUT I can't get my mask to parent with the few frames of tracked information. What am I doing wrong?

I don't have a lot of experience with tracking masks, but you should join the Natron Digital VFX Compositing group on facebook and see if anyone there has an idea. Hope you figure it out

Hi Chris! Trying to follow along here. When one tries to link the two card 3d nodes by hitting the spacebar and then cntrl and dragging translate and the others etc down to the other node to link the cameras, how can one move the intended positioning info from top to bottom? the screen won't move down low enough in order to place and there is no other key that I found that you can hold in order to drag down far enough to the other card 3d node. I know its kind of stupid but there is such little info about Natron that I can find. Hope you will answer back soon! Also, any idea on being able to do another tutorial removing someone or something out of a shot then curing the void with a picture like done in After Effects? I have asked many different times before -really hope you can answer!

 Indie Rebel Dude your awesome! I hadn't realized you made that tutorial for me! I feel honored! I would love to donate to the cause. I have donated many other times to others on the web because I sincerely appreciate the graciousness of helping someone/a stranger, out! I was so excited to come across this! Honestly, I have been frustrated because I don't get much response back from the very few tutorials on Natron out there! I wrote you on another tutorial recently but havn't heard back. I have a funny project that is very simple for someone who knows, and I can do it easily on AE but I am trying to stay away from AE. I want to reshape a moving person's physique by cutting away some gut and filling in the voided area with the background. Make a fat guy skinny. I'm sure you will come across my request. THANKS SOOO MUCH!!!!!! Any word on Natron improvements? The project is alive again, right?????

Sorry I didn't respond to the other comment, I think it got lost in all the holiday bustle. I would have to think about how to pull that idea off. The cleanplate would be easy, but cutting out the gut and making it look good would be a challenge. I shall think on this...

great Natron tutorials, thanks! I cant seem to find a tutorial on how to animate open roto node bezier lines in Natron, could you explain? thanks in advance...
@IndieRebel

They animate just like a closed roto mask. Draw your lines, curved or straight, move to a new frame and move the points to a new location. The keyframes are added automatically

What function does the constant have on roto? Why can't it just be left at a roto node? Why the constant node?
@IndieRebel

Its the only way I've found to get roto to work like I want it to sometimes.

It is a good tutorial. But you can speed up some of the processes to reduce the boredom when you do repetitive tasks. Im guilty myself of this. Also You may want to shoot voice over rather than as you go. and yet again this may make post 5 times more difficult. it does look good. impressive.

Hey there! Last time we communicated you had said you'd be busy working on a project and wouldn't do a tutorial for a while. I was hoping you may now have some time to follow up on this topic. I've looked and havn't seen how to do this outside of AE and an older version of Blender. I wanted to achieve this effect: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKutoJudr75niZI where a portrait/picture uses a gray and black luminance map to apply a subtle movement to a photo as in the example given above. Can you help show how to play with the Idistort (displacement map) node?
