I haven't known any cover you've done in a while :( You're super talented, I just wish you did some more mainstream stuff. Keep up the hard work! 💪🏾💪🏾

All the covers lately are part of a collaborative cover record with Counter Intuitive Records, celebrating 4 years of them existing, and it’s wrapping up and dropping 9/27I would highly recommend checking all of them all out, because the label is incredible and every release they put out is incredible!

@@SkaTuneNetwork thanks for filling me in. And congrats on the collab. I understand you aren't doing this for me specifically, I just wondered why I didn't know anything you covered in a longtime

@@Wenjo936 i mean, i typically tackle 1 video game song a month, one pop punk/emo anthem a month, 1 pop song a month, and another sort of cult followish song a month. and then a patreon request each month, and I think i'm pretty consistent at keeping it well balanced lol but yeah, all the bands and artists i cover are bangers, would definitely recommend checking out any songs you don't know!

@@SkaTuneNetwork look, Im not upset, I can't expect you to upload weekly (or more) and do specifically song I know. You are churning this shit out. You are putting in the work, and for every song I don't know, there's someone who does and they get that feeling I got when I heard that smash Bros one. I looked and it's only been a month since I knew the song, not sailor moon, and I've never actually heard Billie eilish. Im the emo, punk, hip hop, video game demographic. I'm not unsubbing. You haven't done anything wrong. I just wanted to see if anyone else felt similar. I'm excited I got to talk to you. And I've been trying expose Bruce Greene, ex Funhaus, to you as he loves ska, and would be perfect because he would genuinely care, and probably contact you. (I'd persue this somehow, and at least look up ska came before reggae)

interesting opnion, considering i'e managed to take songs like this (Reggae/Rocksteady), but then i have songs like Never Meant that lean into prog rock, Ducktales has a math rock intro, wii channel, japanese breakfast covers are bossa nova, Stone has major frat reggae vibes, Together we ride has a huge jazz fusion-meets-reggae bridge, Love like you is very traditional ska with a swing mixing post-rock sound into the pre-chorus, and i can keep going I'm just interested as to "what sounds the same" because i've tackled about 40 different genres/subgenres-fused into ska unless you listened to 5 covers, 2 being blink covers, and the other 3 being other pop punk covers? Seriously, genuinely curious

@@Playproof one hundred percent emoji lol truth so why do we still like shit like blues and ska? because blues and ska bruh if it didn't sound like ska, then it wouldn't be. DONE AND DONE #theotherhalfislasers #musicistruth #terrans #thekidsarealright

@@SkaTuneNetwork I don't think this is a reflection of you bud i think it's just kinda the nature of ska if you zoom alllllll the way out

Mark Burstiner I personally think it’s the opposite, actually. I think of all the genres I listen to, ska bands typically have pushed the boundaries the most and have the most diversity. Like you can listen to bird watching and vice versa by the flaming tsunamis, a song full of screams, breakdowns, some really heavy 2005 metalcore shit, and then go to Suikinkutsu by the Tokyo ska paradise orchestra which is like, 80s Japanese pop mixed with a smooth jazz/jazz fusion vibe topped off with himori (a Japanese jazz pianist) shredding a solo on top. And then you can play a song like scratch me up by catbite, which is a super 2-tone organ driven song, that has a very rockabilly vibe but also gives me hella contemporary pop mixed with 90s hook-driven pop music. Then you can listen to guns of navarone by the skatalites. Traditional Jamaican ska that’s all about the Afro-carribean beat driving a danceable rhythm. I can keep going on with different bands all in the genre. No other genre can reach all those extremes and still be recognized as “ska”. I think the problem with people who believe “ska sounds the same” is they listen to like, reel big fish. Then a band that sounds just like reel big fish, then they listen to the same 10 Ska punk songs everyone knows like Superman. And then they generalize one of the most musically diverse genres out there
