To you indigo traveler. Another imperialist Yankee invader in Venezuela. I've been to venezuela 4 times. Why don't you go and make reports about LA, Chicago, NY and other crime infested cities in the USA?!! I don't know why or how they allow Yankee like you who go to criticize Venezuela. And for the immigration thing, of course they have to ask what your doing there like if the USA immigration don't. Criticizing the pay of venezuela now I know why Fidel Castro never allowed Yankees into Cuba.

Can you clarify what's the deal with the average salary? I think it's a little bit more complex than what he laid out. The way he put it (maybe because of the video editing) just doesn't make sense. I had one Venezuelan friend give me the rundown once, it involved official/unofficial exchange rates, black markets, etc. but I forgot the details lol.
@0xXMagnusXx0
@0xXMagnusXx0 5 жыл бұрын
@@ShaferHart The most simple way to put it is: Black market dominates venezuelan economy. Thus, you gotta take the official "integral salary" (cash+coupons) and do some basic math with the black market rate. You can find them at Dolatrue's twitter or MonitorDolarVe's IG. That way, you will always have a way to more or less calculate how much is the current Venezuelan salary. By the way, right now most private companies are not paying min salary but actually a lot more (relatively speaking). Considering's today's $ price, I'd say it's around $20-25 a month.
@ShaferHart
@ShaferHart 5 жыл бұрын
@@0xXMagnusXx0 $20-25 using which exchange rate? What does that translate to in terms of real earnings?
@0xXMagnusXx0
@0xXMagnusXx0 5 жыл бұрын
@@ShaferHart Using black market rates, of course. And that's a big thing, actually. In real earnings, some people (not everyone by a long shot) may be getting those $20-25; however, not only it's not enough but also the fact that we are suffering a de facto dolarization of our economy, even the Dollar's acquisitive power is suffering. In simple terms, what you could buy for $25 here, costs around half if you go to Colombia. And that's what people (including me) are doing. For instance, I went and bought $200 worth of stuff there a few weeks ago that could have costed me over $400 here in my city. So in real terms, those who earn $7 a month are getting even less than that.
@ShaferHart
@ShaferHart 5 жыл бұрын
@@0xXMagnusXx0 that's fucked up. How do you get around customs bringing all that stuff in? Is it allowed or you have to "hack" your way in and out? How do you get around crime? I'm guessing criminals monitor the border...

Before going there I researched a bit on the safety of the country (as I heard many stories from my fiancée about robberies, murders, kidnappings, etc...). However, in 2019, she went back for Christmas and saw a completely different Venezuela. People were walking out in the street with the newest iPhones, out in their hand, there was food available in the stores, etc... The thing that made me skeptical about this 'change', is that it almost isn't reported in any form of media. Your channel provided me with an UNBIASED form of information on the country, which was more or less aligned with the story my fiancée told me and it helped me a lot to calm my nerves before my trip. Thanks for that and I love your other videos as well, specifically for that! Now, I would like to confirm that Venezuela is doing much better than a few years ago. Yes, there still are problems and I would not recommend visiting the country without a local guide or friend that can take you around (mostly because of gasoline problems and to identify where you should an shouldn't go). But, my short but intense experience when visiting this country was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone who has access to a local that is willing to show them around. It is an amazing country with super friendly people, delicious food and amazing nature! In these 2 weeks, I have never felt unsafe as a tourist. I was able to walk the streets, go out, enjoy local foods, even attend a softball games in a barrio without any problems. I love the country and I'm definitely going back there (I want to visit La Gran Sabana)! Hopefully the political situation becomes more stable in the future, so the country can unlock it's immense potential. Mucha suerte!

I'm from Zimbabwe and I am amazed at the similarity between the two countries. What I find surprising is that they somehow keep going, despite all the odds against them. I used to queue for between 4 and 8 hours for fuel, and, unless you are very rich, anything but staple food is too expensive to buy. It's so sad that both countries were thriving. I can't understand why anyone would want to live under a socialist regime.

Zimbabwe, when it was Rhodesia, was known as the bread basket of Africa and it exported food all over the continent and beyond. The capitalist profit motive made productivity supreme. But Mugabe, by force, took it all over and ruined it, his policies of handing everything over to his inept henchmen ruined the infrastructure and the rule of law. As someone else here stated, "Let that sink in." No wonder South and Central America has been pouring over the borders to the USA seeking a better life, but can't create one in their own, native lands, because the moral turpitude existing between the ears of your leaders has the drip down power to make them think they are immortal and the Heaven upon earth they believe they are experiencing will suddenly expose them to what the rich man in the Biblical story of him and Lazarus will eternally be their fate. Pray the Rosary for the world, because the spiritual warfare has been forgotten, and the subjugation of the poor will seal their fate at Judgment.

U.S. sanctions have cost the Venezuelan economy BILLIONS of dollars. Here's what the U.N. Rapporteur Alfred De Zayas says: Excerpt: ... If you know a humanitarian crisis in Gaza and in Yemen and in Syria and in Sudan and in Somalia you wouldn't say there is humanitarian crisis in Venezuela and at no point when I was walking the streets in Venezuela did I feel threatened or did I see violence or did I consider that this country was undergoing a humanitarian crisis The solution of the problem is much easier than the band-aid of sending some packages of food or of Medicine, the solution is in my report. What I told the Human Rights Council is that the financial blockade has had extremely adverse Human Rights impacts. Obviously the origin of the current economic crisis is in the fall, that dramatic fall in the price of oil, but normally you will be able to fix that: a country as wealthy as Venezuela should have been able to borrow money on its enormous natural resources and then would have been able to buy and sell like anybody else, but no, the United States has made sure that because of the threat of enormous penalties [from] the US Treasury, the banks have been closing the accounts of the Venezuelan government and of the petróleos of Venezuela. Already in July 2017 Citibank unexpectedly decided without prior notice, and arbitrarily, to close the bank accounts of the Central Bank of Venezuela and the Bank of Venezuela; In November 2017, again Citibank blocked the transfer for a shipment of more than three hundred thousand doses of insulin; in November 2017 the company Euroclear retain $1.65 billion that the Venezuelan government had paid for the purpose for the purchase of food and medicine; Citgo the Venezuelan state oil company based in the US has not been able to transfer its profits outside the United States of America - it needs that money to buy food and medicine and it is in the neighborhood I think by now of $9-10 billion dollars that have been withheld; again Wells Fargo Bank withheld and cancelled payment of $7.5 million made by Brazil to Venezuela for the sale of electricity; in May 2018 the Venezuelan Minister of people's power informed that a financial transaction amounting to seven million dollars for the purchase of dialysis supplies for patients including children and adolescents requiring such treatment had been blocked; So you see here the immorality of it, but not only the immorality of it. There is personal criminal liability for the impact of these sanctions. I mean I am certain that the increase in child mortality, the increase in maternal mortality, the increased deaths for lack of insulin or lack of antiretroviral drugs is a direct result of this blockage, so that Venezuela has not been able to purchase what its people deserve. It's not like the government doesn't want to distribute, it's that the government is being through an external economic war, is being asphyxiated, and that was the name of the game, what the United States intended to do was to create a situation whereby the people or the military would topple the government and then the 1% could again come in and could again control the wealth of Venezuela. Venezuela had succeeded in bringing millions and millions of Venezuelans out of extreme poverty. Nobody cared in the 1980s and 90s that there were millions of Venezuelans dying of hunger and malnutrition. No one cared. It was a government that was palatable to Washington and a government that was a right-wing government. The moment that a left-wing government came in power, priority number one in Washington was to topple it. ... I would also like to see the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court investigate to what extent the deaths [that have] already occurred in connection with the sanctions amount to a violation of article 7 of the statute of Rome article 7 defines crimes against humanity ... See "An Ocean of Lies on Venezuela: Abby Martin & UN Rapporteur Expose Coup" To think any US government, let alone the obscenely corrupt far-right criminals currently in charge, gives a shit about anyone but the tiny minority of oligarchs at the top, is insane. If they were serious about helping people, they would not only lift the murderous sanctions on Venezuela, Iran, and Syria, but they would immediately stop arming and assisting Saudi Arabia in creating the world's worst humanitarian crisis being perpetrated in Yemen (according to the U.N.), where tens of thousands have been slaughtered, and millions are in extreme poverty. They would also take care of the millions in their own country who are living in poverty, many of whom are also homeless. To highlight just how little the U.S. cares, for almost two decades they have done their utmost to deny the 9/11 rescue workers the healthcare needed to deal with their chronic diseases aquired on that day. See the recent videos by Kyle Kulinski (Secular Talk) or David Doel (The Rational National) on Jon Stewart addressing Congress about the 9/11 fund.

@@davelawson2564 All countries, as far as I'm aware, run some form of a capitalist system, varying only with respect to the amount of state intervention in the economy. That is , there is no country where the workers control the means of production to any significant degree. Anyway, if you want to play this stupid game, I'll point to the countries of Scandinavia, which have relatively high amounts of state intervention in the economy (like Venezuela), and which by most measures rank at the top of human and societal well being, as examples of "socialism", and I'll point to the countless impoverished US-backed dictatorships and quasi-democracies throughout the world as examples of capitalism. Is Maduro corrupt? Probably, but so are most leaders of nations to varying degrees. Is he as corrupt as Trump and his administration, who knows. Should Maduro and Chavez have tried to diversify the economy more? Of course, although it can't be easy to run a developing country with the boot of the world superpower firmly on your neck, doing all it can to sabotage your efforts. The fact that you say Bernie Sanders, via your link, wants to turn the US into Venezuela shows you are either ignorant or lying. Bernie repeatedly points to a European or Scandinavian style system of social democracy as an example of what he intends to do, not Venezuela, and it aligns with his policies.

If you goto the the "business heart" of Caracas you'll see empty shell office blocks. Loads of them, as big as skyscrapers....all empty. The worlds biggest banks were ready to invest billions in there......then came Chavez and business went very cold when he started giving away state owned assets and spending an eye watering 13 billion dollars on his election campaign buying houses and villages for people so they would vote for him.

@@Clem_Fandango11 Chavez probably did Venezuela a favour. How delusional you must be to actually believe that putting a bunch of elitist bankers in charge of your economy is a good thing; especially in VZ's case when these would be the offices of foreign corporations. It really shows just how delusional Americans are when they cannot comprehend how countries can actually exist without Americans running their economies. The obvious reality is that if the USA actually minded its own business and stuck to managing its own economy, it would quickly collapse.

On my flight back from Ecuador I met a businessman that was kidnapped here for 5 days. He's been traveling back and fourth for 30 years in central/south America. He said because he's so comfortable he didn't factor in the current climate. Anyways he was walking back to his hotel and 5 people jumped him and threw him in a van like a movie. He was a 6 foot about 220 guy too. They kept saying they were going to kidnap his family whiched confused him because his family was no where near them. With the different arguments and things pieced together this guy thought that it was a possible mistake and identity situation. So what they did was drove around and used his debit/credit card for 5 days. That was normal looking on the guys behalf bc he travels so much. Anyways on the 5th day due to his Wife calling the card company, cops, and.everybody else the card was cancelled and they kicked the shit out of him and dumped him 45 minutes outside of Carcass. The funny thing was that he told me he was relatively relaxed because they kept this oversized bandanna over his eyes so he figured he'd live.

Yes, because Venezolanos are honest folk. The danger to tourists is from the disloyal opposition (who lost elections in which they did not participate) who hire disguised thugs to harm the tourists, and blame Pres. Maduro and "the poor". How Reagan-esque the chicanery. Unlike in the U.S., the people of Venezuela already know from which leg limps the CIA and the local vendepatrias from the country clubs, so this gent's video is just his experience and his opinions; the only thing that matters is that Venezuela is in hands of the Venezolanos.
