I'm a youngish retiree living in the US. I live alone, & have enough food in my kitchen to feed 5 others for a week, and within 2 miles of my home, there are literally dozens of huge supermarkets, restaurants, & food stores of all kinds. I can also get food delivered online, should I so desire I watch this and I wish I could help, but I can't, not globally anyway, which saddens me. I do contribute to local food banks, and I buy the occasional meal for those in need, and for first responders. I can only hope that things get better there, quickly.

Okay very simplified explanation for why this happened which was not really addressed in the video. Note that this is simplified and you could write a paper on each point. 1. Over 90% of monies coming into Venezuela year over year was from oil. 2. Venezuelan crude is heavy crude which costs a lot more to produce 1 finished barrel than other OPEC nations (Yes people not all oil is equal). 3. Oil prices crashed below the point where it was profitable to produce oil for Venezuela who has propped up their entire nation on oil profits. 4. Venezuela did not diversify their countries income and spent all the oil proceeds on immediate gratification instead of building other industry and higher education. It comes down to poor long-term government management.

@@petergriffin6999 No. Denmark is not a socialist country, none of the Nordic countries are. They have all for varying periods of time been ruled by Social Democrats and significant features of their political systems have features that are distinctly characteristic of Social Democratic policy. This includes government funded healthcare and education, unemployment insurance, pensions and other welfare programs. Government being involved in and running business ventures and commercial interests related to resource management, infrastructure, communication and transportation etc. All within a democratic context with strong input from unions. Now, people on the left in these countries will unabashedly tell you that their country is Social Democrat and emphasize the welfare state, the low threshold (i.e. free or almost free) services and the equality between the people. People on the right (bourgeois parties) in these same countries will just as directly tell you that their countries are capitalist in nature. They will point to the health of the financial markets, some low taxes, the range of freedom, the economic opportunities and other market-oriented features. Part of what has happened is that once a policy is shown to actually undeniably work, it will be stripped of its ideological colors, everyone will want to share in the credit (success has many fathers …) and its roots are ignored by the opposition. Most of the core socialdemocratic economic policies and social innovations actually work, so they’ve been stripped of ideology. In Norway the Conservative Party actually started about a decade ago to claim full credit for the entire social welfare system as a “core conservative policy”. Never mind that parts of the labor movement were clubbed to death fighting against bourgeois governments for it. :) They treat relenting in the face of political demands as if it is the same as leading the charge. The Nordic countries are often more neutrally described as “mixed economies”, employing the flexibilities of a capitalist system with regulations and a safety net from Socialism/ Social Democracy. From this perspective, describing it as either “capitalist” or “socialist/ social democratic” is like the buddhist parable of a group of blind men describing an elephant through touch. Each person has a partial perspective that they have every reason to believe is correct. Because of that, whether a person tells you that Denmark and the other Nordic countries are Capitalist or Socialist/Social Democratic, the answer is Yes, No or Both or neither. They are all most likely valid answers from the perspective of the person answering you. They are very definitely mixed economies, though, with both a safety net and economic opportunity. Most of the political disputes are about the proportions of each part in the mix, translated into concrete changes in individual policies. Full disclosure : I am a Social Democrat and see the “Mixed economy” part in itself as a distinct feature of the utterly pragmatic nature of Social Democracy (for which it is routinely mocked). To me, Social Democracy is the only ideology or political movement that fully embraces a Mixed Economy as an end in itself on every level rather than as a painful compromise between the extremes of pure capitalism or pure socialism. So I, and a lot of other Social Democrats see “social democracy” as the only accurate description of mixed economy systems like ours. We can’t really ask political rivals on the right to fully acknowledge that, though, because if they did, they might as well just quit politics right now. :) Don’t be misled, capitalist mechanisms employed in our economies are still important. Social Democrats are not against capitalism as a practice, they just don’t see Capitalists (big business owners who absorb all the profits) as particularly useful to anyone. From a Danish person :D

It's to take over it all... They have BEEN playing "Leap Frog" for a Long Time now. Land, Political, and Resource Grabs. Fake Currency is only a "Representative" of an I owe You. Loan them out to you... by passing the potato until it gets cold... when it does. Collect whatever you have tied to it... because how else are you supposed to keep it. They don't "Lose" anything... Lol... because it was all "Created" out of thin air, on a computer screen Anyway! Crash a countries systems, move in on it, train it's new generations... To prepare to hate, and "destroy" their next target. Teach their children what "You" NEED them to "Know", Hide what Truth you "Can", Misinform them... about the Rest. Before everyone can really see what the H@ll is going On... Mash the Eject button... and "Start" on the new target. People that are ignorant to things, can be fooled... That is how, human beings work... My mother, doesn't know anything about anything... any person that sounds nice, will tell her "exactly" what she would "Like" to hear... and especially if they have a check for her, or offer free ANYTHING... She is as good as whacked. They will argue and fight with you to ignore any word that you could possibly say... Especially if it sounds anything like learning something different than what they were told by they free bearers. Or the Smiling faces on the News that they have seen for years, even if they had been lying to them... They would never know Anyway. They are usually trying to avoid, what's actually going on, so if you get one sliver of information into them be glad... And "certainly" don't press your luck for getting "two" in.. for contrast and comparison. Then when echo chambers of others that have "also" received a small piece of "free" chime in... just hang it up... and prepare for the war that will be conjured up by the land grabbers. They can easily be sold to the Devil... Just simply because... They don't know any better... or usually want to. If the little elephant is taught, when it CAN'T pull the stake from the mud... It usually won't bother trying... once it can.

Thanks for mentioning this book, I never fell for this neoliberal imperialist propaganda again after I read it. The crisis in Venezuela has been entirely manufactured by their ruling class of business owners who oppose the government for removing their power and privilege, and the US and it's allies who refuse to take NO for an answer when it comes to unfettered access to any country's natural resources. The West destabilizes these countries so they can plunder their natural resources and so their people are desperate and impoverished enough to work for low wages with no labor rights. Anyone who stands in their way is a "tyrant" even when 70% of the population supports the government, and the imperialist US popularizes that narrative with the help of loyal stooges in corporate media like ABC. If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth! At least for the vast majority of Americans who couldn't tell the difference between Ecuador and Ethiopia if you pointed one out on a map for them.

@@gussneh the book is about how the US and other western imperialist powers exploit vulnerable 3rd world countries for their labor and natural resources, usually by coercing them into accepting development contracts that they don't have much use for or can't afford, and then making them get massive World Bank or IMF loans so that they're saddled with debt and have to do all these things to comply with the terms of the loan contract that essentially guts their social services like health care and education, and essentially hands over control of their economy to western governments and corporations. If they refuse the loans and the development deals and try to develop their country or extract natural resources like lithium or oil by themselves without giving the US, UK, France, etc. a cut of the profits, then their leaders get assassinated by the CIA, or they get overthrown by a CIA-orchestrated coup and replaced with a right-wing military dictatorship that lets western corporations pollute, kill all the decent paying jobs and replace them with extremely low-paying jobs, ignore worker rights and safety regulations, and extract the country's natural resources while having complete control of the profits and paying the country practically nothing for what they're taking. The country remains nominally independent but effectively become puppet states of the US and nobody there has any real power except for the government that the US has installed or the small minority of already-wealthy people that the US does business with. If their coup doesn't succeed and they can't assassinate their president, then they villainize any country that stands up to them in western corporate media, portray them as a tyrant despite trying to replace them with a much more tyrannical government themselves, despite the majority of the population supporting the elected government like in Venezuela and Bolivia, accuse them of being communists even though most of the governments that they've overthrown weren't that much more leftist than Bernie Sanders, call them authoritarians because they impliment labor rights regulations and undermine the power and profits of wealthy business owners, etc., and then use that narrative as a justification for imposing crippling economic sanctions or invasion. The US alone has done this to dozens of countries in the last century, and recent events in Latin America and the Middle East show that they're continuing to do it with zero regard for democracy or the long-term consequences. In countries like the US and UK, the state exists to protect the profits and facilitate the generation of profits by the wealthy ruling class that controls the government and economy. The goal is to seize control of the economies of countries like Venezuela, Bolivia, Guatemala, Chile, Iran, etc. and destabilize them so that nobody stops US corporations from coming in and plundering their natural resources, and making their work force so impoverished and desperate for jobs that they'll work for extremely low wages with no labor rights. This is the basic operational structure of western economic imperialism. It's how capitalism generates most of it's profit for the ruling class and acquires most of it's raw materials and commodies. Third world countries aren't "under-developed", they're over-exploited and have been systematically impoverished by Europe and North America, in some cases for centuries like in India, the Philippines, and Indonesia. They could easily develop their countries themselves, but the US and it's allies obstruct them at every opportunity because they consider it a lost opportunity for profit.

Doesn’t mean they aren’t a afraid. They just take the risk. Did you not see her get shot at, on film? No one should fear for their life because they don’t agree with their government.

Maduro, the rightfully elected president, was subject to a social media campaign labeling him as a dictator. He had views that would not benefit the United States, such as close ties with China and Russia. In middle eastern politics, he supports Palestine. The same thing happened in Libya with Gaddafi after he tried to make a unified African Bank with a new currency. The population was exposed to a social media campaign inciting rebellion. The rebels got lots of support from NATO, including airstrikes.

Ikaros maduro was elected with numbers that were tweaked by the government. Moreover, he ABOLISHED all democratically elected parts of government (what equal the house and the senate and such), except ONE. And because maduro has one with illegitimate numbers that part (what we call the General Assembly) then declared a vacancy of power (since Maduro is a dictator) and the General Assembly president now fills that vacancy temporarily. Yet maduro is still in power and we’re still going through this shit.
