Indio Cali Classic by Monoprice -- Unbox, Demo and Impressions

I just bought one of these. I got it as a project guitar which would become a gift. Frets were a little sharp on the ends, but I gave them a little work. Swapped out the tremolo for a Wilkinson, and replaced the tuners with locking ones. So far, I really like this guitar.

Can't wait to get mine. Spending almost $2000 on an electric guitar seems ludicrous to me. Your just paying for the Fender or Gibson name. Especially for casual players and beginners it totally makes sense to get one of these.

Good review! I have had good luck with the Indio Retro Classic DXL. A great out of the box experience: in terms of construction and finish, quality of tuners -- and most importantly sound -- this is easily a match for the Squire but at hundreds less. BEST PART: Professional factory set up! I tuned it up and without further adjustment it was low action, no buzz. As you shared, a perfectly decent gig bag is included.. I will use the guitar with my students

These are real nice guitars! Unbelievable for the price. In a blind test you wouldn't know you weren't playing an American Strat!

Snagged my blue Classic tele style with maple/maple neck for $79 too. Did some necessary finishing work and mods to it. I would recommend the Tele style over the Strat in this vid simply due to better inherent tuning stability if you're not going to lock down the trem. Of course I'm biased givin I have an American Special Edition Strat. Either way though - both great guitars for the scratch and will sound good through decent amps and pedals. Cheers!

I got the Indio helix super strat.165 bucks.i come close to sending it back.their was 3 places where they over tightened the screws and cracked the finish.the flame top is a photo,they drilled the pup adjusting screws crooked,and one control wasn't soldered.i should have contacted them and at least asked for a discount.their add said setup by a pro luthier.bullshit.i was able to work out the issues except for the cracked finish.after a few hours work,I got the action really low,and it plays like butter and sounds pretty decent.the good was,it came with a nice padded,embroidered gig bag,it had nice offset abalone fret markers,and a carved top.and matching head stock.all in all,if I could have gotten say a 25 dollar discount I'm satisfied,I have gotten worse one befor

This one was decent for the 79 bucks I shelled out. I ended up changing the neck, pickups, pickguard and switch. Made it a big apple strat. I'm diggin the build.

Agree I ended up only using the body, Made a pretty nice double fat strat. Ended up selling it kind of wish I didn't. If they ever go down to $75 again I'd probably buy another

I snagged mine on sale. Was a holiday sale of some sort I think. Got one for myself and one for my brother, cos the price was so low. I'm probably gonna snag a white one whenever they get back in stock.

I have no opinion, never played one--I think the Benton's ship from the UK and I wasn't ever down to pay the customs duties.
