INDOCHINESE ROLLER NESTING IN A COCONUT TREE

Indochinese Rollers breed from March to May and often choose to nest in naturally occurring cavities in decaying wood, like this dead coconut tree. This choice requires less effort to excavate and offers a strong, thick outer trunk, safely elevated from predators. The female roller primarily incubates the eggs, taking occasional breaks for preening. Clean feathers help retain the warmth transferred to the eggs. Sunbathing strengthens her feathers, eliminates parasites, and provides vitamin D to boost calcium for strong bones and eggshells
