My son was a poolee and went to MCRD 5 days after HS graduation. He is serving today and preparing for another deployment. I am so proud to be the Mom of a Marine. My son is my hero. Happy 236th birthday to Marines everywhere. If you are serving today, thank you for your sacrifice. Take good care of your brothers and sisters in arms. If you are no longer active duty. John Chipura was a Marine in October of 1983 and survived the beiruit bombing. He can home and was a Cop when he responded to the first WTC attack. He walked away. On the morning of Sept 11 he was a firefighter that was off duty but joined his brothers on their fire Truck. They Died together in a stairwell never leaving each other. John Chipura Forever A Marine. Duty Country Corp. Forever in our Hearts.

@TEMPEWITNESS I am just a poolee right now. I took the oath of enlistment and I stand by it. I recently got a new girlfriend who wishes my ship date wouldn't come as fast. At this time I began second thinking my decision, but then I see videos like this, videos of 9-11, and I look at the oath. And I knew, I would never second guess my self again. I know what I signed up for, I know the risk, now Afghan or WW3, I am still fighting, even if I have to pay the ultimate price. Semper FI

Semper Fi! I did my time in Afghanistan but nothing compares to the people that risk there lives and dive into the fold to save even 1 at the risk and sometimes sacrifice of themselves.

As I was a network tech in the wing side I am sure the grunts were glad to have communications and be able to call in those air strikes and artillery strikes so they would not have to dive into a bad situation. I didn't only provide comm I did time on guard but I'm sure that doesn't compare to the time spent on a convoy but just the same you cant live without comm.

I am and have been trying to enlist for two years but always had some derelect recruiters or should I say Hollywood Marine recruiters, that's why I want to go to P.I for bootcamp, the recruiter over there is pushing to get me in and I just went to visit in Michigan and he already is working on my process, I love the Corps and I'm not even in YET, I wonder how it's going to be once I really earn my Eagle, Globe, and Anchor

happy birthday usmc you will live forever i dont have alot of people in my family that was in the usmc mostly army navy airforce but my great great uncle was a marine on iwo jima when he was on that island he was shot in the mouth by the japanese and the bullet went through his mouth through his neck and out the shoudler he survived that day that the only person that was in my family in the usmc later in my life when im 18 i will be second oorah
