Indonesia Committed to Acquisition of 24 Boeing F-15EX Fighter Jets

Indonesia’s defense minister Prabowo Subianto confirmed Jakarta’s commitment to finalize a contract for 24 Boeing F-15EX aircraft during his visit to the United States.
“We are pleased to announce our commitment to procure the critical F-15EX fighter capability for Indonesia,” said Minister Subianto who witnessed the MoU signing. “This state-of-the-art fighter will protect and secure our nation with its advanced capabilities.”
The F-15EX is the most advanced version of the F-15 ever built, with digital fly-by-wire flight controls, a new electronic warfare system, an all-glass digital cockpit, and the latest mission systems and software capabilities, which will all be leveraged in delivering the new F-15IDN.
In February, the U.S. approved the sale of Boeing F-15 Advanced Eagle combat aircraft to Indonesia for an estimated $13.9 billion. It covers up to 36 Indonesian-specific F-15IDN variants of the Advanced Eagle, as well as related equipment, spares, mission kit, training, and support. Besides the aircraft's internal M61A Vulcan Gatling gun, weapons are not included in the package.
A week before the U.S. greenlit the sale, Indonesia signed a contract with French company Dassault Aviation for 42 Rafale fighters. Subianto said the $8.1 billion deal was part of series of agreements also including submarine development.
The F-15IDN is the latest version of the export Advanced Eagle that has previously been sold to Saudi Arabia as the F-15SA and to Qatar as the F-15QA, and that features a number of capability enhancements over earlier generation models. Although the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notification does not provide too many details as to the likely end configuration of the F-15IDN, it did note that it is to be equipped with the AN/ALQ-250 Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability Systems (EPAWSS) as fitted to the U.S. Air Force's F-15EX Eagle II. This feature indicates that the F-15IDN will be the most advanced version of the ‘Advanced Eagle' to date.

Latest information in 2023 currently Indonesia operate fighter jets Sukhoi SU 27 = 5 units , SU 30 = 11units , Hawk 200 = 23 units , KAI T50 = 14 units and F 16 V = 33 units ....Good decision to adding and create new squadron due escalate South China Sea Dispute with new France - Dassault Rafale F4 = 42 units , Mirage 2000 = 20 units and new F15 EX = 24 units would be better tactical fighter jets war. Another thing that is waiting for is also related to KF 21 with South Korea which is already flying tested in Indonesia and Korea expected to add to the ranks of its fighter jets.

Indonesia is moving away from China and Russia, in modern military acquisition. Today, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, the US, and Western European countries are the only nations that could produce the currently most high-end computer chips that run all modern & sophisticated machines, jets, and weapons systems (radar, etc). China could do it up to 7nm, but smaller than that, it lacks the laser technologies/the current and upcoming most refined fabrication tools. Anyway, Singapore, a neighbor of Indonesia, is the only 3rd Asian countries (outside of Japan and South Korea) to be allowed to buy the F-35. Turkey, a NATO member, is not even allowed to buy the F-35... so THAT TELLS YOU you can't have the seemingly mid-ranged single engine F-35, even if you're as rich as the AUE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, etc, because the US doesn't sell it to just anyone; only the most trusted allies are allowed to operate it...because the F-35 is a SUPER COMPUTER MACHINE, not just a fighter jet. And because high-end anti-aircraft missiles easily fly up to Mach 6, no fighter jet ---- not the F-22, not the F-15, not the Su-35/57, not the Rafale, etc --- is going to out accelerate or out run a volley of such missiles (both air to air and the more powerful ground to air)..... so the F-35 designers said to themselves, after years of working on projects like the F-22... let's just go ahead a build a $100M mid range fighter jet that is actually more like a super computer than a traditional jet, so it could do things no other jet could do in terms of radar, avionics, computation, data link/intel process capabilities, etc. so it would know way before other jets, friends or foes, what's in front of it many, many miles before others could do it... so the F-35 could take the appropriate measures BEFORE it is faced with those modern, hyper fast missiles that easily do up to Mach 6...

@kiabtoomlauj6249 Not really, Indonesian military chiefs are a very pragmatic lot. They want the best out of their military arms merchants- suppliers in US, European, and Russian technologies. The generals are fully aware of American military arms sanctions and embargo in the 1990s and early 2000s that seriously harmed Indonesian military acquisitions and procurement programs.

Why not bugger the arms embargo from world's greatest arms dealer and supplier: USA. Indonesia is a sovereign state and within its legal right to procure weapon systems for its national defense.

F15ex, F16, KF21 Boromae ( America ) untuk meredam agresifnya China di Laut Cina Selatan khususnya Natuna. Dan tidak diijinkan untuk agresif ke Nato dan Teman teman Amerika seperti ( Singapura dan Australia ) Sedangkan .... Su27, Su30, Mirage and Rafale F4 lebih bebas, karena bisa agresif kapanpun dan ke negara manapun, Tanpa perlu takut Embargo / Sanksi Dari Amerika 😂 dan yang pasti tidak perlu ijin ijin dulu kalau mau dipakai untuk menyerang 😅
