To name a 'few' from Wikipedia that frankly are most likely more impressive (given Indonesia has begun with only 88.8 miles): China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Morocco, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, California and the several European countries including the usual legacy states.

FYI = 1. China and Indonesia have agreed that the line will be extended to Surabaya. Hopefully, construction starts in 2024. 2. The line will be built along TransJava Toll Road to minimize the difficulty of land acquisition. 3. Whoosh or Red Komodo is the official name of the HSR.

@@simpleman6327By starting construction in 2024 I curiously thought 'someone' might know now. Others say it won't start for another 4-5 years because in part like you said a "feasibility study first." Also securing financing agreements must be done.

The HSR whoosh is to be extended in 2024, eastward to Surabaya (capital city of East Java province). It is planned to pass Kertajati newly built west java airport, city of Purwokerto then to Jogjakarta, Surakarta/Solo and Surabaya. A distance of more than 700Km+ from Bandung.

One of the best advantage is how business meetings can be done either in Jakarta or Bandung within a day. A 3 hours drive which mean 6 hours moving back and forth not including the regular congestion and the intensive use of gasoline consumption especially for private transport pushes people to stay for a night that cost both money and time.

Why did they choose those route is because money, jakarta bandung, is one of high traffic route. before covid, the conventional train ticket mostly sold out 1 month before departure, and the train between jakarta and bandung runs every 1-2 hour from 4 or 5 in the morning until midnight. At the weekend, jakarta bandung by car can be 5-6 hours for 140km because traffic jam

The route was choosen for economic reason, its the highest traffic routes from jakarta to another big city, from engineering point of view its a difficult route , because the rail has to go tru mountains. A lot of bridges and tunnel has to be built

@@argacc20417 just want to correct, conventional ticket train is not sold out in 1 month, there is always available ticket, but yeah the train will about 90% fulled during weekend, and it take 3 hours journey About the car journey it actually only take 2-3 hours to Bandung, with traffic in the weekend can spend about 4-5 hours, 5-6 hours is rarely happened

This project has another line through the south line of the Java island. In the north line, Indonesia will build another train line with a maximum speed of 250 km/h using INKA train production!

I think the tracks still need to be extended to Surabaya trough another major city like Semarang for them to be able to achieve their economic and environmental goals. I mean the price of plane tickets from Surabaya to Jakarta is almost the same or even cheaper than executive class train (the fastest one is Agro Bromo Anggrek 100-120 km/h operational speed), and the plane only takes 1hr meanwhile the train takes 8hr.

It doesn’t change much how ppl move from Jakarta to Bandung or the other way around. Travelling using bus or cars are already quick enough with many terminals in both cities. Its part of connecting Jakarta to Surabaya is the one would most likely revolutionise things

Bro bikin kereta cepat, bisnisnya bukan cuma jualan transportasi tapi membangun kota baru. It's going well. You can find updates on NHSRCL's KZbin channel. Anyway, just to build 142 kms, they spent $7 billion. India is spending $12 billion to build 500+kms in phase 1 itself. And out of that $10 billion is from Japan with just 0.1% interest and repayment period of 50 years. Can't beat those terms!

Indonesia had lowest debt to gdp of 50 biggest countries. 1. Our GDP in 2022 is $1,4T 2. Our Ext Debt in 2022 is $400B (Gov debt is $190B + Private Sector debt is $210B) 3. Our Foreign Reserve in 2022 is $130B 4. Our State-owned Ent Asset in 2022 is $650B 5. Our Natural Resources Asset in 2022 is $13T So this projects cost is nothing for us .
