This one had a poor QC in subtitle. 1. The most obvious part is the price of cooking oil. If the price is 0.0012$ per liter we'll be swimming on it, it should be around 1.2$. 2. The subtitle for the last interview is totally different with what the person is saying. That guy is talking about latest palm oil export temporary ban, in which he responded by something like "The method is extreme, but such method was effective in reducing the price gradually and protecting local customer -- at least for now"

This news pretty much did a bad job in translating foreign language in general, other than English and Chinese. Just look at their previous news I can't help but thinking that they just use Google Translate instead of hiring an actual translator for the respective language
@zeroyuki92
@zeroyuki92 2 жыл бұрын
@@rebelwind6474 The second point is definitely not a bad translation, it was translating a coherent speech of a totally different topic. Pretty sure it's a bad QC: The original edit has a few extra stories that were cut for the final version, but the TL remains and got mistakenly switched with the one that made the cut. Or someone sent the wrong txt file. Or basically anything that could be prevented with having a QC.

@@zeroyuki92 yeah agreed, but that doesn't change the fact that they did a bad job in translating foreign language in general Even if they did made a mistake. Isn't it weird that they still did the same fcked up translating a coherent speech into English after releasing like hundreds of news now? Don't you think the translation itself is misleading? @@rebelwind6474 I'm not going to comment about the overall translation for everything in this channel as I'm not knowledgeable enough to say anything about that (and neither you did explain about it in details). Just want to say that a bad translation and a bad QC is an entirely different thing.

The Indonesian government had stopped export ban, then the price soared again not long after that. I would not ban palm oil export, instead ask buyer to pay in rupiah. That way, global demand will drop but rupiah will rise stronger. Double win for Indonesia. We can see when Russia asked EU to pay gas in rouble. Demand for Russian gas drops a little (because not all can meet the condition) but rouble rises significantly against USD. We cannot rely on cheap currency to boost commodity export anymore. World has to distribute wealth accordingly. Furthermore, soy bean and canola got issues, palm oil exporter can leverage on this...you gotta pay what u got to pay, pricier gas, pricier edible oil.

The news is not about common people but small industries. If its regular folks, we have option just to boil or steam our food. But what about small industries selling chips? (In the video showing workers frying tempe). Did they must change to microwave them? Or using Airfryer? Then the electricity cost will soaring. Despite indonesia being one of the biggest Coal exporter, but our power plant are really below standart esp outside java island.

Yes, but the government blame the export of palm oil (companies prefer to sell their products overseas than to domestic market) That's why palm oil export was banned last month But things getting normal now And export already allowed again This is old news I don't know why SCMP upload this

bio fuel goal of b100 of all palm oil is one of the biggest culprit. all it did is guaranteeing palm oil demand. now you got a crisis and your realize you have shot your own foot. we should have sticked through thick and thin with jathropa. it was uneconomical yes but it grew everywhere even in ex coal mining locations... it would be decades long painful bleeding but boy we would've saved our economy and gain surplus today had we stick with it.

@@toddpacker7058 No it's Joe Biden and the entirety of NATO. They should get out of their egotistical mindset that the European problems are the world's problems and let us trade with Russia and actually get the best deal of oil for the poor people. and if not why not let Iranian oil go in the global market, oh right US is also not letting us trade with iran.
