This is how they “honor” someone for their contribution to music? First of all, it’s just tacky that this woman didn’t bother to learn anything about David but had to read something straight off of the internet. She could have had the decency to hide the phone. And to just drag all of his dirty laundry out for the world to hear is just so disgusting! Shame on these people!

This show was supposed to be in honor of him, instead, it was a total bashing of him. Where did they find this woman? How was she in any shape or form associated with him? The Hall Of Fame should be ashamed of itself for allowing her to give such a speech. So if she knew him at ll, why did she have to read every word from her phone, no how, no way professional. Every one that attended so they could experience David’s life should be given the money back and an apology from the hall.

The CMHOF need to take a long look at themselves and ask if they are capable of running events at all. For weeks fans have been excited to attend and see this so called induction with some flying thousands of miles to be there! Then this woman who supposedly knew David delivered the most unprofessional biography about the personal trials he went through. Fans walked out! David’s best friend was in the audience and left! Where was the information about his music, acting, Broadway, the West End and many years in Vegas! Why wasn’t a professional speech written, where were the screens showing David’s achievements, let alone his music. If this is honouring a person I would hate to be on their bad side! Totally disgusted with the California Music Hall of Shame!

I've seriously never seen anyone give such an unprofessional speech EVER. Quite apart from the disrespectful content, no competent speech-giver would EVER read word for word from notes - let alone phone notes. If a speech-giver needs a prompt, cards with keywords are the way to do it. If you are so unprofessional that you HAVE to read from a phone, you need to ensure that your nails don't impede your scrolling. You need to ensure that your use of the phone is discreet. You need to KNOW YOUR SUBJECT MATTER. Anyone giving a supposedly important speech should have practised in front of a mirror over and over again. With all the people David knew in the entertainment world, why choose this nobody who no-one in the DC world has ever heard of? Why not ask someone like Henry Diltz who really could have paid tribute to David? Not much wonder David said he really didn't care about this type of recognition! If I were a musician, I'd definitely ask the CMHOF to NEVER consider "honouring" me!

That is the worst induction speech I have ever heard. That was embarrassing, We need a do-over on this. I think Bella Funk, Funked it up. This was not a speech to honor the 70's heart throb we all love. She made no mention of all of his accomplishments, so sad. It was so unprofessional reading it off the internet on her phone. She didn't mention his many years in Vegas! His music, acting, or Broadway. The California Music Hall of Fame totally messed this up. We've waited a lifetime for him to be recognized for his accomplishments and now we will forever be reminded of this horrible speech. David deserves to be honored for his music. I hope someone decides to honor him in a better way.

What sort of tribute of this? What's this about all his family issues and problems - they aren't relevant to a "Music Hall of Fame". There is very little about his achievements musically and acting? And some of it is factually wrong (e.g. David did not give up touring because of the death of Bernadette Whelan; that was decided before his 1974 tour began). And the presentation is dreadful.

This is horrific! It's all about her very short experiences with David. No mention of his RCA albums that were hits in Europe, especially with the 1st version of "I Write the Songs" after the PF or of his Emmy nomination for "A Chance to Live: Police Story" 2 hour episode. No mention of his successful plays, including 2 huge hits on Broadway (Joseph & Blood Bros), no mention of his 1985 hit album "Romance" in Europe and successful tour, selling out the Royal Albert Hall. No mention of David taking over EFX, totally changing it from a not very great show with Crawford, into an incredible, best-selling show in Las Vegas, voted best show, entertainer, dancer, music, etc. Also, "No Bridge I Wouldn't Cross" during his stay in Vegas was the most successful single from an "indie label" up to that time! Also, his 1990 album titled David Cassidy was climbing the charts and the single "Lyin' to Myself" made the top 30 hit in the USA & could have made it to #1, except the record company went under. No need to mention the alcoholism, etc. We all know - but this is suppose to be to HONOR David.

I could hardly even watch the entire video. I cannot say exactly what I think here or I'd probably get kicked off of YT. I am outraged and disgusted. The most unprofessional display I've ever witnessed. Why on earth wasn't her speech reviewed prior to the ceremony?! To those of us who love David and have for over 50 + years, this is just gut wrenching. Even if it had been about someone I didn't even know, I would've thought it in poor taste. Absolute trash.

Why didn't she mention all his Gold & platinum records? This was all about herself & she was wrong! He put out the RCA albums starting in 1975 & they were hits in Europe. In 1985, another hit album & singles in Europe with his "Romance lp" followed buy a tour ending at a sell-out show at The Royal Albert Hall. The many plays he did, including 2 hit shows on Broadway. Why, out of all the people who genuinely knew or worked with David Cassidy and could have delivered a fitting tribute to his 50 year career in music,. acting, stage and screen, did the CMHOF choose this ill-informed person whose badly delivered self aggrandising "speech" was full of inaccuracies about DC and focussed on maligning his private life rather than honouring his musical and other professional achievements? More a roast than a tribute. Why did they not vet her speech beforehand? Poor show all round. People had travelled thousands of miles, some from UK and paid to attend the ceremony only to to find the chief inductee being insulted rather than honoured.

What an insult. Where did you get this “tribute?” Wiki? Tabloid rags? DISGRACEFUL. The CMHOF is nothing but a money grab, low rated low production scam. David was an epic workaholic. He soared throughout his career with acting, music, writing, directing and producing accredited work around the globe. In addition, he was one of the kindest gentleman around. Imagine every artist you have honored and dug into their background, most would have the same if not worse skeletons. Again the CMHOF IS A LOW RATE MONEY GRAB. The industry knows it as well as the family of this fine gentleman, which is exactly why they wouldn’t attend. The fans who traveled from around the world should at the very least demand their overpaid ticket price back. Shame on you and your lame “pass the buck” apology.

This speech was appalling! How could the CMHOF have lacked in the oversight of such a travesty. Someone needs to take ownership of this DISHonour shown to David Cassidy and his family and fans and publicly correct it. A post of apology doesn’t cut it- it’s just a start! If the presenter didn’t have something nice she could say about David’s legacy, she should have said nothing at all! The ceremony brought people together in anticipation of a tribute to David and sadly failed horribly.

I was there and let me tell you - I was shocked! I kept looking around, like 'is this lady for real??' What a disgrace. The worst part was there were a lot of young people in the audience who were talented singers and musicians. And this is the impression that they got of David. Unbelievable! How about talking about his influence on pop music - the thousands of sold out venues around the world, having a bigger fan club membership than Elvis or The Beatles? Now those kids will go away with the worse impression of David Cassidy. I'm at a loss for words. Another thing - I grew up listening to KLOS in SoCal and I have no idea who this woman is. I knew ALL the DJs. Maybe she was on the late night show or something. Anyway, the only highlight of the night was meeting other PF/DC fans and also hearing the Cowsills sing. But I left shortly after that disgraceful speech. Hopefully the CMHOF will make it right somehow.

If I recall, Mike Love mouthed off during the 1988 RRHOF induction on fellow inductees The Beatles, Stones, Supremes, and Billy Joel on their feuds while bragging about the band harmony and interrupting Brian Wilson's induction speech. Carl Wilson was embarrassed, saying it was the end of the Beach Boys as he knew it. The CA Music HOF certainly embarrassed themselves by hiring this woman.

The fundamental question show organizers should routinely ask themselves beforehand is “What kind of tribute would the deceased artist want?” If the organizers don’t care about that, then the tribute is just a self centered virtue signaling sham. If they do care about that, well, anyone can figure out that the talented David would have preferred the tribute talk about his songs and albums than embarrassing personal life misfortunes sprinkled with accusations like “…it was his excuse…” and “…finally admitted…” This was not a true fan with enough relevant facts in her head to make a speech without doink doink doinking on her cellphone the whole time. Look at this comments section; everyone is disgusted! With good reasons! Is this presenter going to be asked to reply to questions asked of her and is she going to make a public apology and explanation speech?
