When inductors are connected together in electrical circuits, they can be arranged in series or parallel configurations, similar to resistors. Let's discuss the characteristics and properties of inductors in series and parallel:
Inductors in Series:
When inductors are connected in series, their total inductance adds up.
The total inductance (L_total) of inductors in series is given by the sum of the individual inductances (L1, L2, L3, ..., Ln).
Mathematically, L_total = L1 + L2 + L3 + ... + Ln .
Inductors in Parallel:
When inductors are connected in parallel, their total inductance decreases.
The total inductance (L_total) of inductors in parallel is given by the reciprocal of the sum of the reciprocals of individual inductances.
Mathematically, 1/L_total = 1/L1 + 1/L2 + 1/L3 + ... + 1/Ln.
