There are many requests for R179, but sorry I wrote that I won't take any requests, since I'm living in Japan and it's hard to record on demand. However, my fellow already recorded R179, so please watch this. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5Wvi4uZaKx4jpY

Actually the modulation pattern is Async (250-500Hz→500Hz→500-300Hz→300-310Hz)→11P(SHE)→7P(SHE)→3P→W3P→1P (SHE stands for Select Harmonic Elimination mode).
@PmtaROBLOX2 жыл бұрын
why does it go from 500HZ to 300HZ and back to 310HZ instead of just switching right to 11P(SHE)
@TheSearleFamily1232 жыл бұрын
@@PmtaROBLOX That again is a byproduct of how the software has been programmed.

Noob here :). Can you recommend some learning materials about these pulse modes and what does it mean that the PWM is async or sync?
@TheSearleFamily123 Жыл бұрын
@@domtom128 Asynchronous is where it makes that wave by changing how long it pulses for between 0 and 100% but those pulses are entirely fixed or only partially moving as the wave speeds up. Synchronous is where there's a set number of pulses that are fixed to the output wave.

Wow how did you get soo deep into the propulsion sound?

I use an inductor (100 mH), a TRRS cable, and an IC recorder. I record these sounds by putting this on a train car's floor just above its traction motor.
@Simulation101YT3 жыл бұрын
@@ebaraexpress7260 Hi there, was looking to do the same thing. Just searched up on E.bay for a 100mH inductor. The results came up as a 2 metal pin LED-looking thing. Is this correct? Also with the TRRS cable, it looked like an AUX headphone jack with another port. Just to make sure are these the right things? Thanks in advance.
@ebaraexpress72603 жыл бұрын
@@Simulation101YT Hello, maybe both are OK! In UK, there are many aluminum cars, and it would be hard to catch the traction sound from them. The other noises would disturb that, but conversely this might be the sign of the recorder working correctly. Good luck!

@TheSearleFamily1233 жыл бұрын
OK, so what's up next? I can tell you this now (I couldn't have told you before) that the actual sounds (apart from the different pitches, which relate to the transistor technology) are to do with how the motor is pulsed; it's the VVVF drive pulsing out an artificial AC wave from a DC supply. The motor is usually 3 phases, and overhead AC supplies are only single phase, so the transformer when on that voltage is AC-DC-AC. If the overhead wires or conductor rails are DC, then the transformer will just be DC-AC.
