Industar 26 Thread Repair - no special tools needed!

I recently acquired a FED-3 camera that came with an Industar 26 lens. Unfortunately, at some point in history, the lens was dropped and the filter threads on the nose were heavily deformed. In this video I fix the nose with - a hammer and a wood dowel. No special tools needed!

I find step-down rings a very useful prophylactic for favoured lenses &/or their hoods. In this instance a 40.5-37mm ring (a couple of dollars on the auction site) will give your lens a far more robust rim.

well does the filter screw in?

I do a similar thing, but using two or three sticks from Magnum chock ices glued together and shaped to a suitable radius at the end.

Being able to screw filters might be optional, but the real question is whether its possible to unscrew the front.
