I purchased a FED-3 camera that came with this Industar 26m lens, but both had minor problems that needed fixing. In a previous video featuring this lens, I fixed the nose that was bent over. Here I disassemble the lens, clean it, and re-lube it with plenty of commentary.
The same procedure can be used on Industar 61 lenses because they're substantially identical.

Very helpful, many thanks. I did a 61/LD in just the same way. Difficult part was finding the right thread entry when reassembling. Forgot to do what I usually do: Unthread slowly while pulling a little and put an alignment mark (scratch across barrels) just at the point when the lens tubus comes off.

Thanks for the video, it helped with my Industar 61 zebra. Focus ring wasn't turning at all, I cleaned it with isopropanol and then reapplied grease (lithium in my case) and now it's as smooth as baby's skin 😄

Thanks for the video. I brushed off my Fed-2 after not using it for over ten years and the Industar 26m lens is seized. This video is just what I needed.

Fantastic tutorial. Just finished reassembling a 61 and now it feels smooth and solid. I used Sil-glyde because it’s what I had on hand, but looks like a similar viscosity to the stuff in the video. One thing I had to do differently: I tightened the focus ring grabs last. Otherwise I wasn’t able to fully seat the flange ring.

For the life of me I cannot get the aperture numbers to match up to the index mark if I put the long set screw where it belongs and the other two where they belong in the scale focus bezel....what am i doing wrong? Was this lens aligned wrong before I took it apart ? Help?

Hi man, I have a copy of the lens (I. 61) that won't mount in the correct position - its screws to a 3 o'clock position (markings to the right when holding the camera to your eye), instead of the usual 12 o'clock. The distance scale doesn't really match the rangefinder either, but I'm not sure that part is too much of a problem. The lens has been taken apart and reassembled by a previous user, which is probably the origin of the problem. Do you think tinkering around the mount itself will resolve the issue? Or do I need to go deeper? Thanks.

is it possible to get to the lenses inside? Some sort of liquid has apparently entered my 2nd hand bought lens...

Good video with a clear explanation of the process. I am interested in seeing you work with the FED-3. I suspect that Soviet grease was designed for the Siberian winter. I live in a hot arid area & got home one day after it had reached about 47°C. My Jupiter-8 was sitting on my desk in a pool of pus coloured slime! I am slowly working through my most used lenses & relubing them with silicone grease. It has that dampened (not slippery) feel that you mentioned, is good to go with little change in viscosity from -40° to +200°C & does not give off the sort of vapours that can create haze. A bit more expensive than other options but better than sliming shutter curtains or my Sony's sensor! :o

Great video! Just what I was looking for. What size of flat-head screwdriver are you using? 0.5mm or 1mm?

Great video, your a life saver. I bought a FED 5C (industar 61A) back in late 90's, (still original manual in Russian). It was meant to be a collector item, sitting on my shelf. With the film revolution going on, I ran the first roll of B&W film through it and processed and was very surprised by the images . Scanned one and enlarged to 11x14 and is going on the wall. This camera has found a place in my camera bag, with the digital gear. But, the grease is dried up, as the focusing is rough . Question, is White Lithium grease a good grease ? I have a tub laying around . Only concern I have, is lining up those 2 limiting screws. I'll mark some how. Again, thanks for the informative video . KB.

if the hands are out of the ass, it's difficult. and for Soviet eternal objects, it's normal. unlike the western $100 shit.
