Do you know what you want to expand into yet or an ideal job you want yet?? OR is incredibly useful especially if you already know the whole software side. Honestly, i would go online and find cutting edge jobs from companies that just now exploring new areas like Tesla and their new giga-factory, or some other car company testing autopilot and look at what skills they want for those positions. The only reason i say that is cause all the new positions like that are going to involve code and industrial/OR skills. But it’ll give you an idea of where the world may be heading.

I’m in my 2nd year of electrical engineering and I’ve come to a conclusion in fall 19 that this ain’t right for me after struggling in some of the major’s classes. So, I started looking at some of IE’s major required courses such as materials science and another course called statics and dynamics. They looked interesting especially the lab part of materials science and I have heard a lot of good stuff about this course. I thought of switching to Business Management but then I told myself it would be a shame having to start from almost zero when I have gained a lot of credits in EE.

Ok another question, so in my school we dont have thermodynamics nor fluid mechanics in our major electives but we have dynamics and other things like food manufacturing, food engineering, petroleum engineering, oil and gas.... So should i take dynamics or should i choose from the other subjects?
@KyleGillis
@KyleGillis 7 жыл бұрын
I would decide this by asking a few questions first.. 1.) If you're interested in any of the other classes being offered or they'll directly help with what you want to do when you're out of school, then I would choose that class first. 2.) If you're unsure about the above one then it would be a good idea to ask/email your advisor about which one may be best for you. 3.) If neither of those are real helpful and you're just wanting to choose the easiest class, then I would go to RateMyProfessor.com and read a few of the reviews about each class / professor to decide on the easiest one. Don't be afraid to ask around as well at school if you're already on campus. 4.) If none of these helped.. well then you're screwed lol

@KyleGillis

Really glad you're asking about this so early. This is what you want to do.. You want to find out if your school offers a dual program of some sort where you can pursue your MBA and IE degree at the same time. At my school you can get an MBA and IE degree in 5 years since they go hand in hand which is an AMAZING opportunity. I'm not an expert in career advice nor do i know that much about the advantages of a masters degree, but I do know you should find this out asap. I would simply go talk to the IE dept and ask about dual degree options within your program. Like I said, this MBA one is a big one a lot of ppl don't know about at my school. you may be able to make it up at your school and they'd go along with it.
