Industrial sliding barn doors | DIY

Here they are--the long awaited sliding barn doors, yep these are the ones I have been talking about for months on "The Crafted Podcast".
This was a really fun commissioned project! I was commissioned to build two custom sliding barn style doors for a house up in Daytona Beach Florida. The client supplied me with the weathered cypress which was reclaimed from an old prison fence!

I really like the look you got on the metal with that copper patina - very cool. I also like that almost "barbed wire" like detail you incorporated into the handle - maybe an homage to the origin of the boards used in the project?

Multiple steps to patina your steel, forging your own nails and handles, using the original nails and screws to create a stain for the timber... these are the details that are taking you from great, to next level. love it. just made a barn door with a mirror in it. big chunky old scaffolding boards as the edge. not sure.weather to paint or stain it. love the stained look, but paint will go with the room as it is right now.
