The crazy thing about this song and video are the little details. The time, 10:05 PM, which is when the first shots rang out, the fact that it said "Stephen P." on the pills, the fact that they used actual audio from the shooting. The cracking of the bullets hitting the ground and the actual screams. The way they recreated an actual photo of the shooter that was shown on the news with the actor. It's a masterpiece in both horrifying and amazing ways

I love how the song is like a double entendre all the way, its 2 stories instead of 1. Also its amazing how the perspective changes each verse, first verse is more about him rocking/murdering the show and the last verse he raps from the perspective of the vegas shooter. When this dropped, the press went HEAVY at Em, headlines were all about "Eminem is glorifying the vegas shooter" talk about missing the message. This song is by far better storytelling song than Stan.

Didn't see it mentioned but when he says "ammo for all the hecklers" its not only ammo for the journalists/non-fans of his, but also bullets for the gun company Heckler (Heckler & Koch). I knew a couple people that were at the Vegas show who thankfully made it out alive. In the end with the tvs, when they mention a shooting at a food festival in Northern California, that happened about 20 minutes from me.

This is Em's *MASTERPIECE* - not just with his lyrical wizardry & double/triple entendres, rhyming schemes, his storytelling abilities...the whole concept is insane but...also the sample of 'The Sound Of Silence' (Hello Darkness my old friend.....). Next level GENIUS!🐐 (Remember, Em lost his best friend Proof to gun violence💔) Eminem started the ball rolling by using his platform to raise awareness and encourage change for the better, a HUGE risk, even for someone of his stature - yet KZbin tried to bury it - WTF does that say about society today?? That's why the end of the video is important - asking people to register to VOTE and let your voice be heard! NOBODY needs an unlimited arsenal weapons, NOBODY! At least highlighting this issue is a starting point.👏👏👏

The genius in this song is that it's not just two layers. The bottom line is in the sound of silence - we hear shit like this every day but nothing changes, it's like nobody listens (like artists are afraid no one listens to them) or sees the signals. The song even ends "by the time it's over, won't make the slightest difference". This is a wake up call. A few points in the songs: - "Loathing in Las Vegas" isn't just about the movie. Fear and loathing actually stands for "anger and distrust" towards those people in power (politicians) that don't do the things necessary for the people - they don't deal with the threats of guns, mental health and drug issues. It's also towards press who is supposed to be the watchdog and oppose the politicians. - Tomorrow's paper refers to Eminem in yellow press and the shooter in press afterwards. But in addition to that Eminem refers to the fact that this song will gain attention too. In fact that is the 3rd entendre because he knows all the way that press will go "apeshit" and "bananas" due to their double standards - the reactions to this song were as if he killed someone even though he just documented/reported it, and that he never should have made a song like this, that it's disrespectful. In the beginning he struggles with it, like should he or should he not open the curtains? Eventually he decides "fuck the media, I'm going all out, this is war". He knows what he does and he chooses to do it. - And then there is Sound of Silence that keeps on playing in the background. He touches that song in so many levels that it's unreal. It portrays a musicians difficulties (writing songs that no one will hear or sing), mental health, drug abuse, nobody trying to make a difference, the huge problems of society, the mass shootings that "split the night"... And then there is the silence: no one speaks up, everyone silently accepts everything and tries to numb themselves with drugs and alcohol. Then there's reference to sound at "crescendo", "loud but I don't hear no sound", because the sound is silent. Also the last part where there is no suicide note, no motive, no reason - there may be but it's not spoken out aloud. The fourth verse of Sound of Silence is about trying to make a difference, which Eminem is trying to do. I think he is hoping for someone to help him (and the society) too, to have someone reach with an arm and to actually listen, to cut the darkness so that he no longer has to be alone in there. "You can't help me, no one can", though - he stays alone in the darkness in the end and no one knew him and his mind in the end. Even his words will now "echo in the wells of silence", and an effort like this song will change nothing. This is one of the greatest songs ever.

This is what got me hooked with reaction videos...well actually breaking down videos because there was so much stuff that I would not have gotten without the friendly folk from you tube breaking them down. I have to say that they have also made me listening him a lot more since now I know what to appreciate when it comes to him. You are right when it comes to knowledge that you must have to really get his lyrics. And when you are non English speaker living up in north Europe there is a lot of references that will fly over your head because while USA culture is familiar here it is not that deep in here that you would know everything. And I have to say that I laughed little when I saw your video on my feed with thinking well you went and picked good song for xmas lol. Not really but I guess I can appreciate it since I'm stucking at home with being sick on this year and be it flu or cold or the current plague it sucks to be sick and miss to see happiness of the sibling's kids to have the Santa visiting. (Here the Santa visits on xmas eve and most of the time in person) I have seen some reactions from people who were there or were part of other shooting and it has been mixed reaction. Some have been grateful that he shines the light to the topic others have not been really happy because it has been so triggering for them and then there have been few who have not had really any reaction to it. I think though that the last group is the one that I worry most because it shows that they have not processed what happened at all. Then there is the group that thinks that who is is to talk about it and that he must be against the guns totally. it is not the wibe I have gotten from him and when it comes to who he is to voice something about the topic...Well he is one of those who has to walk on stage and face the risk of something like that happening in his concert. I'm pretty sure that is something that weights on every artists minds on these days.

*hugs* The lyric mastery involved to tell two different stories at the same time is incredible, and I am in awe. Knowing what you know now, when/if you listen to it again, you will pick up on so many other details. The subject matter is devastating, and yet, so important. I live in a small town where shootings of any kind have always been infrequent (but it's a southern town, so everybody has at least a 20-gun collection), but even here we've seen an increase over the past couple of years. I have a son in middle school, and there was recently an incident on a bus where a student was threatening the school. Fortunately, It was quickly taken care of. But dropping my kid off the next morning and seeing the increase in cops.... I just wanted to call out of work and take him back home.

This song has one of the most powerful lines I have ever heard. “Strapped like I’m a soldier.” Such a simple line and yet it says so much. It’s still mind blowing to me that the higher ups in DC are quick to come together to ban TikTok instead of making gun laws a lot more stricter. It takes more to get a drivers license than it does to get a license to purchase firearms that only people in the military should be allowed to use if necessary. People are able to buy these firearms as easily as buying groceries at Walmart.

This song got so much shit in the beginning andI can understand it initially, many most likely didn't see his intention and message behind it. It wasn't in any way a downward punch at the victims and support of the shooter, it's a double entendre between his struggles as and artist and the mind of the shooter while also highlighting the issues with the gun laws saying you can be a perfectly sane person, own as many guns as you like and just decide to go on a rampage because you can. It's a masterpiece in writing with layers of meaning intertwined you can interpret them all as one thing but infact several things if you pay attention.
