I've been listening to this all morning on iTunes and crying all day. I've been sober for 4 years, now. I have severe epilepsy and drinking was killing me faster. I quit and stopped hanging out with all the people who didn't help. I really wish my husband was home from deployment because he's my rock and this patrol has been rocky to say the very least, and it's not even close to over. Great reaction.

My lil Chihuahua... he's a real ride or die buddy. 16 months since I was 4 yrs deep into a meth addiction. When he was going through the initial withdrawal, his mother would come home from work and ask how he was and he'd answer "Not good". Those were the only words he said all day. He had to force himself to eat even one egg each day during that time. His breakdown was so bad that his parents reached out to a friend of his to go and check on him because they hadn't heard from him for a while. He was in bed in his basement apartment and couldn't make himself get up. His parents asked the friend to pack his stuff and put him on a plane home. They saved his life, but it was an uphill job for them and for him.

The flipside to “I call my friends and they don’t answer”…. It’s possible your addiction has burned everybody out. It’s possible that people are trying to tell you in subtle ways, you have an issue and we can’t/don’t want to be a part of it anymore. My ex-husband is an alcoholic we were married for 25 years and alcoholism is ugly and brutal and as out-of-control as he was with alcohol, he was a control freak, he was verbally, physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially abusive. I finally divorced him on our 25th year anniversary, we married when I was 18 and he was 22. We’ve been divorced for several years now, but this song makes me feel like I didn’t do enough, I didn’t help enough, I didn’t and I couldn’t understand what he was going through, like and I gave up. How much should one endure?? I mean I legitimately used to think alcoholism is a disease and so is cancer, would I be leaving him if he had cancer? Of course not, so is it okay to leave him, that he has this legit disease??? It’s a vicious ugly ugly annihilation of everyone involved thing. We’ve been divorced for a few years now, but I don’t think I have fully healed even going through therapy, and, he is still an alcoholic.

We have circles.. when your not in .. your out.. you find out how many friends you don't have when you try to turn yourself around.. you find your friends.. are just there for the non-stop party. When it's over.. You find that they're not there. That hit me hard, it's relatable.

I totally understand where you are coming from. It is hard for friends and family who have never experienced addiction or withdrawals themselves to be able to understand or relate to someone who is struggling with addiction. Thankfully my family is amazing and they were/are there for me unconditionally to help me and be understanding. People who can't relate don't understand that the negativity and frustration that their loved one may have inflicted on them is not personal. I did some really shitty things to my family. But when the fear of withdrawal is constantly in the back of your mind, the addiction has a way of encouraging someone struggling to do whatever it takes to get that fix. Even if it might hurt someone they love. Thank god my family didn't and doesn't hold some of the things I did to them against me. I took methadone for 15 years after getting addicted to pain pills. I fell into the methadone treatment trap and was taking the highest dose every day compared to everyone else in the program. Sure, getting on the methadone kept me straight and kept me out of the streets and kept me away from the law but it had a MASSIVE effect on my body mentally and physically. I did finally get off the methadone and switched to suboxone. I am on the lowest dose available and the plan is to completely get off of it this year...safely. But I do understand the frustration of family members and friends who maybe have had enough of the bullshit and just cut ties with them. Just know, you are potentially leaving them at the worst time of their lives. I am not saying you should stick around and enable them but I do believe the right thing to do is at least be an ear for them.

I feel you on this (more than you know).. BUT, as the daughter of a SEVERE alcoholic, there really IS only so much you can do.. He has to want the change at some point.. Like, my Mom HAD to leave my Dad.. For her own health (physically and mentally).. Of course, I'm sure we'd all agree, that we wouldn't leave someone because of cancer, but it isn't fair to YOU to believe that you gave up too soon.. It's a very hard situation to navigate through.. It affects everyone involved, not just the addict.. Love can only carry you so far before the addict has to take steps in the right direction.. For himself, in your case, and for you.. And for the people he loves and who love him.. Try not to beat yourself up.. Again, that's a really hard situation to navigate through and I'm sure you did your best.. For him, but also for YOU!! Much love ❤

@@yvonneyvette2631 this is very true. Sometimes it takes absolute rock bottom for someone to see the light and want to get help. Every album Tom has ever dropped has a mix of types of songs. Every album has controversial songs, anti industry songs, mental health / addiction songs, confident cocky upbeat fuck the haters songs and funny upbeat just for fun songs. And if you put all his songs in order of release into these categories you end up with a story that flows. To me it’s like each album is a season and each song is an episode and they all connect and flow and you see the character growth of this amazing independent hard working determined man who also sometimes feels low and angry or sad and he has demons that he will forever keep fighting no matter how high his rocket of success flys. And his songs like This House ,No Response, Sorry, Best Rapper Ever and Don’t Look Down are songs where those who don’t know his story understand and take it as overly confident and cocky and conceded and say things like “who does this guy think he is saying he is the best and is a superstar bla bla bla” However it’s not like that. Those who have struggled with addiction of any kind and/or Mental Health know that you have to believe in yourself you have to be your own cheerleader your own fan your own supporter because if we skip that part then our demons have the space to grow and attack us when we least expect it. Building a solid self foundation is the only way to conquer ourselves, our demons. In 2016 Tom posted on Instagram with Nova and the caption said “one day we will be Superstars” this was at a time where they both felt lost and defeated…now 5years he writes a song about his independent success and says he is a SUPERSTAR and damn right he is. He is more successful then MANY mainstream artists.

This really hit home! My cousin just lost his son from a drug overdose and I just lost a family friend from a drug overdose yesterday. Please, if you're going through this just stay strong and know that there are people out here for you.

I feel this song so much right now! Going through it at the moment.. lost 6kgs in 2 weeks.. feel that rib cage line so hard and I can’t eat sleep etc.. been trying to keep myself busy but it’s so tempting to just make that call for a meet up to get what I feel like I need… but I’m staying strong… his song is so spot on…

I subbed because you want to help others you dont know. Respect. The exact opposite of most with a public platform especially those pieces of spit pretending to care to make a dollar.
