I'm just starting to watch racing as a sport to follow. What the difference between Indy, F1, and NASCAR? I'm from Toronto, Canada I know we have the Honda Indy which is incentive for me to lean for the Indy. Thoughts?
@alman66610 жыл бұрын
Indycars go the fastest and have the most diverse schedule (road courses, city streets, and ovals), the competition is very fierce, and the races are always competitive. F1 is exclusive to the road courses (outside of Singapore), but the races there tend to have a one sided dynamic as once somebody gets out front, they tend to pull away and it's usually somebody from one of the dominant teams (Mercedes, Red Bull, or Ferrari). The F1 cars are pretty ugly this year. NASCAR goes the slowest, they race taxi cab like cars, and the product right now is not very entertaining to watch. Indycar does have best product because it's the most fun to watch.
@zjbautista10 жыл бұрын
alman666 Thanks! Yeah I was wondering the difference between Indy and F1 racing. The Honda Indy in Toronto had a big following back when I was a kid and I kinda want to relive that glory and hype in the city. Is it worth seeing here in Canada?
@DiegoRuiz199110 жыл бұрын
*F1* = greatest technology, still greatest speed around turns (even though current regulations make them not have as much downforce as desired), main World championship for car racing *NASCAR* = outdated technology on purpose, strict regulations, 34 races on several types of ovals and only 2 on roadcourses, main stock car championship *Indycar* = nice technology, fastest speed on ovals but 10-15% slower than F1 on a roadcourse, main American open-wheel series *WRC* = big technology, very limited on power but still really quick, only multi-surface championship in the World (asphalt, gravel, snow and ice), time trials on closed public roads on 3 continents *WTCC* = nice technology based after roadlegal sedans and hatchbacks, limited on power, roadcourses of all kinds on 4 continents If you want I can walk you through the main motorcycling championships as well
@misswendywalker10 жыл бұрын
Love F1. Indy is the best, especially Indy 500. Best race in the world and I'm English
@jackjohnson96039 жыл бұрын
F1= Far superior cars but not a great level of competition not a lot of passing used to be great sound of the cars but since they've taken the sound away but it's still a great series. NASCAR= A stock car series where contact used to be encouraged but now bullshit cautions and clean air have given the sport a bad name. (And I'm a NASCAR fan) Indycar= Probably the only sport of the three that's actually gaining a following. Kind of feels unauthentic at times because of their "Push to Pass" system. (Basically the driver pushes a button an gains extra horsepower to pass a driver) but they have the best race of the year which is the indy 500

mostly lateral Gforces of 5-6Gs in the corners 4 times per 40 second lap. that combined with the fact that you are pulling those Gs within feet or even inches of 2/3 other cars. the best person to drive the indy 500 would be a person who not only races cars but flies fighter jets for a living.

Being British I am a F1 fan, but the difference for me is that these drivers cry when they win this race - F1 drivers just look smug. I look forwards to each F1 race and end up bored, even falling asleep - I just watched two hours of racing here and it went in a flash. Then the winner drinks a bottle of milk instead of wasting expensive champagne. Also the commentators are more knowledgible whereas F1 commentaries, especialy on the BBC are just frustrating and keep repeating things like the colours on the tyres, about DRS and stuff a fan would already know. Commentaries in all other sports give credit to the fans to know something about their sport. Its just different and I prefer Indy for these and other reasons. Simply it is more entertaining and emotional. Sorry to all those fans of Murray Walker, but his commentaries made me both sad and mad. But for the likes of James Hunt and Ayrton Senna where would the sport be? It is as characterless as Mr Schumacher, its most succesful champion.
@brendanpotash11 жыл бұрын
I completely agree. The days of Jim Clark winning with a 2 MINUTE margin are long gone (totally loved that guy) - and now it's much more dicey. I just wish they would throw one lousey right hand turn in there somewhere.
@pbandj378 жыл бұрын
Agreed. F1 use to be a lot more interesting but now it has turned into watching a parade pretty much followed by a sullen winner and a podium that has folks spray champagne on each other, thank a bunch of sponsors, then get in a private jet and whiz off to somewhere where common people will never see them. Having moved to the Indianapolis area recently, I actually see IndyCar drivers around town and they are, believe it or not, normal and down to earth. I ran into Pippa Mann at the Red Bull Air Race actually, super nice and loved talking to me even though I ambushed her in a crowd of people. I also appreciate the tracks of IndyCar. It is a mix that requires multiple skills, not just ovals or street or road courses. The races are, usually, tighter/closer with many, many lead changes. I hope that IndyCar can expand beyond the current tracks and grow!
