I wasn't a huge Hinch fan as IndyCar driver but he's fantastic on the booth. His explanation of the in laps and out laps during caution is the best I've heard this far. I finally understand it now.
@onethumbks2 жыл бұрын
Indycar, please stop playing games with cautions. They are meant for safety. If a car is in a position deemed dangerous, throw it then and there. Don’t wait for the most opportune time to be “fair”. A parked car can be crashed into on lap 1 or the final lap. Not to mention it takes out short pitting. If teams now know a caution won’t be thrown until everyone pits there’s no reason to gamble and it’ll be follow the leader through the race. Kudos to Palou for not saying anything, but he most likely would/should have won

Rokit is behind on payments, they haven't officially lost it yet but seems like they may. Sadly, they'll have to park the 11 and Calderon will be out of a ride if that happens, which seems to be why the changed Kirkwood's sponsor but left hers the same. The 4 car already has a different sponsor and they won't let the 14 go without finding other backing, but Calderon may be done after this weekend.

Help me to understand motorsport: why do cars with the same engine perform so differently? Does the car design make that much of a difference in terms of aerodynamics when the cars are so similar? For example, there are not so many possible formats to differentiate 10 or more cars and still keep the parts necessary for driver's safety. Specially on nascar or moto gp where I don't see many aerodynamic differences?
@lucasphillyfan61722 жыл бұрын
For example: if a team realizes that the shape of the front wing has to change to improve the car, but another team already uses that shape would it be considered copying and therefore prohibited? If yes, what to do? Do they have to keep a bad wing? Because, like i say, it doesn't seem to me that there are many formats options, not only for the wings but other parts too.
@claymorris36412 жыл бұрын
In the case of indycar, it is a spec series, meaning that all of the components of the car are the same. The main differentiating factor of a fast car vs a slow car is the setup, and the driver. Setup consists of things like wing angle, spring stiffness, ride height, wheel camber/toe etc. All of these parameters are adjustable on these cars without changing out parts (Except maybe spring stiffness, but this would be something where the car manufacturer would give multiple springs that they can use). That is what makes indycar appealing, the little teams can do just as well as the big ones if they have the right driver with a good knowledge of setups.
@danielhenderson83162 жыл бұрын
It's one part set up and one part driver. Engines have multiple throttle maps that perform differently at different RPMs which might favor a certain driving style or track. For example, you'd want to set the engine up at Mid Ohio for good low end torque because of the constant low speed elevation changes while for Road America you need more top end horsepower because of the long straights. Then you have multiple springs/dampers/suspension setup that make the car behave differently.
@philiphodson29802 жыл бұрын
the extra 50bhp from the push 2 pass & not really knowin when its in use & @which point certainly contributes 2 differing performance,cause thats what it is!lol.tyres quality/condition would b the nxt biggest contributor &how different drivers r able 2 manage/look after them.then obviously the driver is the other factor.id disagree with the car setup makin that much of a difference.the setup changes/difference between each car r minute its really driver preferences 2 how they set their car up between under/oversteer.i know 4 a fact that scotty mach liked a more pointy/oversteery car when in aussie V8's so probs likes a similar setup indycar.remember V8's have 650ish bhp,rear wheel drive with locked dif,NO TRACTION CONTROL,no ABS & stick shift sequential gear box!
