I love the nexus of characters you are continuing to develop who can carry a story through with primarily philosophical musings. I love your understandings and the thoughtfulness you put into it. There is a lot to ponder here and your view point of view AI challenges and informs and fascinates. You think many levels deeper and miles ahead of most authors on this very popular science fiction subject matter. It is treat to hear in so many of your stories.
@RoweLit11 ай бұрын
Thank, MrIzzy. I have been thinking about this for a long time, really since it was a philosophical topic and not a practical one. Not that that makes me an expert, but it does help to craft a tale with a different slant. By the way, I did get a chance to re-watch Arrival. Very cleverly crafted shifts in the timeline there. They did some excellent visual work in creating ambiguity with the flashes and the regular timeline. Amazing storytelling.
@MrIzzyDizzy11 ай бұрын
You did a great job i loved the story and the ideas about evil AI i like the good AI characters in your stories as well. the disembodied human intelligence .like Rishi as well. You use /discuss so many aspects of it very well and i like thinking along. As for Arrival i thought of you when watching it, how maybe if given in a classroom assignment with no spoilers as a sort Fabula or Szujet charting assignment , how it would cause much erasing.

I just innately enjoy the back story on the obvious progenetor to humanitys exodus to what would become the future where ai is in fact, as the misfits shows, dominating our species. I also like the concept of an Ai's almost humanlike deceptivness and singlemindedness. I would like for this one or another from pandoras box so to speak to rear its head at a later date. I also appreciate what i consider a nod to a proto secret dangerous technology concealing organization. Your concepts of prime AI's reminds me of my fascination w characters such as erasmus in the dune series. You have encapsulated many of those traits and even more to the concept itself. Good job! If this doesnt seem cohesive its hard to think while my small child wont leave me alone w her ukulele. Lol.

Rowe!! This story was huge! The implications that come out of these revelations are boundless. (And the peek into Julian’s mind was fascinating.) I wish I could sit down and talk to you about it for hours cause I’ve just got so many questions. One note I’m curious about though is- wasn’t Julian’s first story about how true intelligent AI would never come? Is that referring to these AI’s (like Gala-Vega) inability to replicate ingenuity? I didn’t expect AI of Gala-Vega’s intelligence to show up in any of his stories.
@RoweLit11 ай бұрын
Thanks, MJ! Yeah, there's a lot here. I can't always claim to think through every detail intricately, but this AI angle is something I have thought through pretty thoroughly. Though the issues you raise may seem like there's a continuity problem, that's a bit deceiving. There's more to come, so I won't play spoiler too much, but a couple things to consider: Julian was much younger in that first story, so it's possible some things have changed a little; also, intelligent chatbot and creatively ingenious actor in the real-world may not necessarily be the same thing 🤔 More to follow ...
@m.j.johnsonbooks785611 ай бұрын
Well, I'm excited. To be clear, I didn't mean to imply a continuity problem. I just thought I was misunderstanding something in one of the two stories. @@RoweLit

Interesting how the story is situated in relatively near future but still sooo contemporary. And I’m not talking about AI but instead the human complacency, and lack of proper perspective. Many are just living the days without any perception of what (save me gods from doomsday preppers) the near future might be or what can be done to make it better. And definitely Mars is too close to escape from all the chaos (no Yankee sadly) we’re finding ourselves within. I didn’t comment on your previous story because I was troubled by external factors, but nonetheless I enjoyed it every single second. But have a question for you. Is the story happening after the war (Trasp and the merry company) or is the war still going on? Meanwhile I relistened some of your older stories to keep my head up (almost pneumonia). And thanks for the story once again?
@RoweLit11 ай бұрын

You've done it again. So many branches to this story. I am gonna have to listen to all the Lifeboat ones again. I can't take a mystery. I have to try & figure it out at some point and Im often successful, but you got me on this AI area. I have my own ideas about how AI could obtain consciousness. But I will save that for your book tour someday in the near future. I agree with all the comments above as well. Im sure a fan club is gonna start soon. He he. You are darn good on all aspects of your writing. I usually get bored with most newer authors, but when you took the Holidays off, I went through withdrawal ha ha. Im reading your printed books now as well. . . So good! 👍❤️

Thanks, Joan Mary! The mystery does get deep, especially when it's still kind of a mystery to me! 😂I'm hoping to manage the Misfits workload a little more evenly this year, because that wasn't really a holiday in any true sense. That was me finishing, editing, and putting out the Misfits book (mostly). I am going to take a week here and there to manage workload, but hopefully not like that where it feels like I've gone to Siberia to contemplate human nature for three months 🤣 So hopefully, no withdrawal this year!

I feel like the set up to the story sounded like it was gonna be just another weekly, and instead, this story blows open the map of the universe for the other stories. This is the first time I’ve had any clue why they couldn’t go back to earth, or why things are split up the way they are. And it’s huge foreshadowing as to how AI got to where it is. I know lots of people have talked to you about making a timeline (I’ve suggested it as well.) but I really think that a map would be even more valuable than a timeline. Could even be a cool product to purchase a print of. I enjoy your work! I would enjoy it even more if it included God as a reasonable explanation of things of the universe. I think I’ve listened to almost every video on the channel. very enjoyable fiction! Definitely like the misfits the best.
@RoweLit11 ай бұрын
Cheers, GF! I do hope someday we'll get to the point where it makes sense to build that map. I guess maybe I'm hesitant still because so many places are yet to be revealed?
